SIMPLY AT HOME…..

I adore this image from a wee while back, for me it’s the essence of a family wedding with guests celebrating within the grooms family home. Okay it’s a large castle, but still home….. Come the wedding day the family welcomed everyone into their home for the champagne and canapé reception, the chilled vibe was simply incredible, guests milling from the snug, library, to the more formal rooms and out onto the extensive lawn with THE most beautiful view of the Whitby coastline. No matter the scale or style of the celebration, I place a huge emphasis upon the guest experience and this image says it all, they felt perfectly at home, which exactly what the couple wanted.

Let’s be honest most of us live half our lives on our phones. Scroll, tap, post, repeat. But your wedding day? That’s the one day I recommend pulling the plug…The stories, the laughter, the memories they’ll last far longer than any phone battery.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of social media and running a business means I need to post stories and reels etc but I draw the line at dancing on screen (That’s a no no)... but I also try to approach social media with a timeless vibe. (I mean without marketing , how on earth would you have found me?) but I don’t feel the need to share every element of my life or yours.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Behind the scenes, I’ve been a little quieter than usual. Many of you know I’m not the biggest fan of social media, but after someone in the industry asked if everything was ok, I realised it’s probably worth saying yes, I’m absolutely fine.

The quiet has been a conscious decision. After a few years of running at what felt like 150% following the pandemic, I chose to take on fewer weddings in 2026. Not an easy decision, but one I knew I needed to make.

I’ve everything to build NEWP over the years. Time, energy, and every emotion… myself. And I wouldn’t change that. I love what I do.

But last season, as incredible as it was, made me stop and really look at the pace I’ve been keeping. Starting a build midweek, finishing on a Monday, then straight into the next one it’s a lot. Physically, mentally, emotionally.

And the reality is, working at that level, on the kind of weddings I do, isn’t for the faint of heart. When you care as much as I do, it can very quickly tip the balance and up until now, I’ve not been great at saying no.

So this year, I’m choosing to do things a little differently.
A little more space. A slightly slower pace. Time to think, to breathe, and to realign without being forced into it by burnout.

The weddings I’m part of this year are still very much what you’d expect from me, with some new locations, some familiar ones, all thoughtfully chosen.

I’m still very much here. NEWP is still very much moving forward.
Just with a bit more cautious intention behind it and a pace that allows me to enjoy it all properly again.

WHEN A CHAIR IS MORE THAN A CHAIR….

The conversations I have weekly about choosing the correct furniture for each space in my couple's weddings….. I must sound boring, but believe me comfort totally outweighs aesthetics and style.

Let’s be honest, this trend of contacting suppliers at random, without research, isn’t new but it is tiring and time consuming. After two decades in this industry, I’m pretty good at spotting a potentially pointless email…

The couples who secure me are not looking for the budget option. They’re looking for the right one. So they lead with trust, not price. They want someone who understands scale, pressure and detail, and who can handle it all quietly and properly, without the noise.
And yes, the last question I'm often asked is, “What are your fees?” In fact, quite often I’m the one who mentions fees first for full transparency.

So when a copy and paste style enquiry pings asking for a brochure or a package deal, I know instantly this conversation isn't going anywhere, which is just as well, as I don’t offer either. What I'm still trying to figure out is why contact suppliers you have absolutely no interest in securing.… this may end up a controversial post but I'm curious, as these past few weeks this has been a hot conversation with other suppliers feeling the same. What does random emails achieve!

STOLEN MOMENTS

I’m a huge advocate for gentle pauses and stolen moments on your wedding day. The in-between seconds. The space to actually feel what’s unfolding.

I love slow weddings. Yes, I’m someone who deeply values a well thought out timeline but when the day arrives, my biggest encouragement will always be to make time just for you. Step away. Hold hands. Take it in. Let the day move with you, not rush past you.

This moment of H & M says it all. A beautifully slow, guest-focused celebration, rooted in meaning and intention. Captured by their incredibly talented friend Sophie during their tree planting ceremony and pause filled with purpose, presence, and so much love.

These are the moments that last.
Not the rush but the remembering.

SPECTACULAR AND OPULENT MEETS MODERN...

Rachael and Oli, enjoying the Scottish sunshine at the stunning Hill of Tarvit Mansion House - National Trust located just outside St Andrews.

The beautiful estate and mansion house provided the most amazing backdrop, with the luxury marquee placed on the front lawn. Vintage soft seating in the exposed large porch area of the marquee, fresh oysters and champagne to welcome to guests as they arrived on the wedding coaches.

Its the little touches that elevates your guest experience, and sets the tone for whats to come.

ELEVATE YOUR GUEST EXPERIENCE

You’ll hear me talk about guest experience a lot — because it’s that important! The most memorable weddings all have something unique that makes them stand out from others. From small gestures to large scale creations, there are a number of ways to go above and beyond with elevating your guest experience.

Performance artists of all kinds have become a big means of creating a unique ambiance and experience at weddings. The sky is the limit with this category, and this is one way to really wow guests with something that stands out from other weddings they’ve attended. From jazz bands to aerialists and dancers, these artists can be used to amplify the environment you’d like leading into the dance portion of the evening.

Think mixologists and special food-tasting stations including local oysters and smoked ham stations. Rachael and Oli, ensured an endless supply of Aperol Spritz, champagne and sunshine to create a relaxed informal wedding reception with mingling and laughter encouraged.
