Meet Richard.
Owner, fixer, and the first one on site when something needs doing.
Richard acquired Burningfold in 1999 - 300 acres of Surrey farmland and historic buildings, with roots stretching back to one of Henry VIII’s 15th-century hunting lodges. With a long background in horse racing and sporting ventures, it felt like a natural fit from the start.
Over the years, Richard and Jessica built family life here, raising children against the backdrop of the manor, the polo fields, and the countryside that surrounds it all. When they eventually moved locally, it opened the door to specialise in hospitality - particularly weddings and polo. A way of sharing Burningfold with others.
He'll tell you his role is simple: making sure everything is ready and that the estate exceeds customer expectations. The charm and history of a place this old can throw up the occasional challenge. It hasn't let him down yet.
For Richard, the best part? Watching people experience real joy in a place that has been part of his family's story for over 25 years. Seeing individual celebrations come together, supported by the team he's built with Jessica - that's what it's all about.
