Proposed parking charge increases from Uttlesford District Council represent a major rise, following last year’s increase, and will directly impact residents, workers, businesses, and visitors alike.

Our goal is simple: raise awareness and ask the Council to reconsider or at the very least do what other authorities within the
Essex Parking Partnership are doing and freeze charges instead of increasing them again.

Parking is not a luxury.
It is how people:

• get to work
• support local businesses
• attend medical appointments
• visit family
• keep our town centre alive

We are asking everyone who uses Great Dunmow to contact your District Councillors and ask them to support a freeze or reduction in charges.

Our High Street Needs Your Voice

Great Dunmow’s High Street is under real pressure.

Uttlesford District Council is proposing:

• No business rates relief for local businesses
• A 23% increase in parking charges
• Parking permits rising from £300 → £560 in just two years (that's 86.7%!!!)

These decisions directly affect footfall, shop viability, local jobs, and the future of our town centre.

If you value having independent shops, cafés, florists, butchers, pubs and services in Dunmow, now is the moment to speak up.

👉 Please write to your District Councillor and ask them to vote against the current budget proposals or support amendments
👉 Write to the local paper to tell them why Dunmow’s High Street matters to you
