- When the Cake Tells the Story -
This one unfolded at Achnagairn Castle, where Rebecca and Greg's wedding was a perfect celebration of love, Scotland and meaningful connections.
1. The spectacular ballroom at Achnagairn Castle was the backdrop for their day.
2. When they first discovered my wedding cakes, Rebecca told me they were almost going to skip having one, but after her searches led her to a beach-inspired design I'd made previously, Rebecca fell in love, and the journey to this cake began.
3. Their inspiration? The wild, windswept beauty of Luskentyre Beach, where they got engaged, and a shared love of Harris gin, whose beautiful bottle subtly inspired the cake's natural palette and textures. The cake's soft coastal tones and artistic details reflect Scotland's rugged coast and the creativity that Rebecca, with her arts background, appreciates.
4. The celebrations continued the next day at a local distillery, where the cake was photographed alongside a bottle of whisky bottled on their wedding day. A little twist of serendipity: Rebecca discovered that it used to be Glen Ord Distillery before becoming Singleton, and her grandfather designed the logo!
5. Rebecca's grandfather also painted Luskentyre Beach, displayed at the wedding and shared with me beforehand to inspire aspects of the cake design. A true blend of personal story, family connection & their love of Scotland's natural beauty.
6. Moments like these remind me why I love what I do - when cake becomes more than a dessert, and tells a story of love, place and such meaningful connection.
