My Background

I am a Primary Teacher to trade and have 17 years experience working with children, their families and other agencies. I was seconded ten years ago to work across the city to promote health and this involved presenting at meetings and conferences, to small and large groups of adults. I have a passion for working with people and one of my key strengths as a teacher has been my abilit

y to reach out to those around me and support them in whatever way I can. Becoming a Civil Celebrant has been one of the most inspiring parts of my life to date. To work with families to celebrate the lives of those they love most is truly a privilege and honour. Embrace Funerals

The aim of my ceremonies is to provide a personal, individual ceremony which truly reflects the life of the person who has died. This may or may not have a spiritual/religious element depending on the wishes of the family. The focus of the ceremony is very clearly on the life of the deceased. I will spend time with the family discussing the person, getting to know them through their loved ones memories before crafting a service which is unique for them. The family will be as included in the service as much or little as they wish to be. I truly believe that a funeral prepared with a loving tribute for the deceased, carefully balanced with music and poetry can begin the healing process for the people left behind. I am the family’s voice and will speak from my heart on behalf of them at this difficult and emotional time. Embrace Baby Blessings and Naming Ceremonies

I offer a personal, engaging and loving ceremony to welcome your baby into your family. This will reflect the life of your family and take into account any beliefs you may have. The birth of a baby is the most special part of life and Embrace aims to make your day memorable by crafting a ceremony with words, poetry and music which will make your day extra special.

❤️ A first for me today and definitely the way I hope things can move for families to get exactly the right service for their loved one. I was asked to deliver a eulogy as part of a Catholic Mass to honour the life of the most lovely gentleman; a character and just one of life’s gems.

It was his wishes for a Catholic funeral, the church was a very important part of his life …….. his journey and story was exceptionally important to his lovely daughters, grandchildren and family …… so we worked together in the church he attended to give him a balance of everything.

There is no one way to say goodbye; working together can make things as personal as possible while honoring the rituals and beliefs which have been woven through someone’s life ❤️

❤️ Some of the bravest people I have ever met are parents saying goodbye to their child …… thinking tonight of the most beautiful boy and family ….. forever with a space in my heart.

Lovely quote today in our service from Bluey in picture below - this was sent to the family from a friend, so true.

To have loved so deeply and unconditionally makes the pain of loss unbearably sad …… but that time, that ‘bit’ when they were here, no matter how short; that joy and happiness was worth everything ……..and it’s what will remain always ❤️

❤️ Love, love, love this - I can and will small talk for Scotland and it’s a lovely thing - wee cup of tea, chat to the dog that’s licking me, cat on back of sofa while kettles boiling.

I love a good blether - drives my boys mad because I always meet someone I know in the supermarket- but chatting, connections and time is so important - it’s a gift we can all give.

I need the big chats too though to do my job properly - I need to be nosey, to ask loads of questions, to even speak about uncomfortable stuff to get to where I need to be in delivering the right service.

I love my families - wedding couples, babies, funerals, renewal of vows; memorials and everything in between.

Let’s keep chatting; makes life worthwhile ❤️###

A LITTE BOX OF LOVE

WHERE LOVE GROWS...

A beautiful box filled with native flower seeds to scatter in your special place, a poem, instructions and dried flowers, with a hand etched slate stone to use as a placemark.

Great to remember loved ones, be it family, friends or pets, and also as a wee keepsake for a wedding or birthday gift.

❤️ Lots of you will know my dad was my reason for changing careers nearly twelve years ago - when he died my life altered direction almost immediately.

Today he would have been 73, I wish he was here; I wish I had more time with him, to help him, to talk with him; to make him proud, to let him be a grandpa to my boys.

My dad is forever 61 and I’m so grateful for those years - he and my mum were the best team and they made me and my brother who we are - and so today I’m remembering them as they were when life was starting out - an inspiration as individuals and as a couple.

And my mum is here still supporting, loving and keeping us all fed, watered and with freshly washed and ironed clothes to wear! Embrace would not be what it is without her at my back. ( or without my dad out in front, leading the way, never far away)
