Embrace Ceremonies

❤️ Morning everyone, enjoying second cup of tea and reflecting on busy and very varied week. It started with the most lovely Wedding Ceremony on Monday at the beautiful and very welcoming Lands of Loyal. The rest of the week was busy with funerals here there and everywhere - Perth Crematorium, Dundee Crematorium, Eastern Cemetery and the Northend Club ( so welcoming and lovely).

Boys kept me busy in amongst it all ….. Finlay piping at Malmaison on Tuesday and Noah with his clubs and antics! Then there’s the furry and feathery babies 🙈

Catching up on housey jobs today which are never ending then tomorrow I’ll be writing for next week, answering messages and emails and ready for ceremonies and meetings from Monday. As always never far away 😘❤️

❤️Today is World Su***de Prevention Day - something very close to my heart. This year more than any other I have been overwhelmed with the number of amazing, sensitive, caring and very much loved people who have left us through su***de. Children; teenagers; mums, dads; their stories etched on my heart. I don’t know the answer; I wish I did…….

In the twelve years of being a Celebrant I have never experienced the number of very young su***des (shockingly young) that I have in the past six months. I feel very passionate about supporting and understanding; in being part of prevention, early intervention and making sure there is is an ongoing network for all those affected.

When I stand at the service of someone who has ended their own life and look out into the faces of the congregation I see the heartbreak; the shock but most of all the love of those who would have done anything to help; to heal; to be there …….

If we could just get folk to hang on …. to reach out….. to know the darkness won’t last forever.

I don’t know the answer but I’m always here …….. I’d much rather spend time talking to people while they are here than about them when they are gone.
Moments pass; despair, darkness, depression - they can pass …….. su***de is forever 💔❤️

Friday chit chat - today did not start well - plan was good - up early to write for fabulous couple and to prepare for a celebration of life for a really lovely lady. As could only happen to me my laptop leapt off the shelf as I was printing my service, plummeted at excessive speeds and sliced open my big toe - still not sure what’s going on cos too scared to look properly but wee bits of bone visible 🙈
Am really bad with blood so after tears and paracetamol it was on with the day …….. busy with work and stuff here for boys ( building a bed and seat - with Flora, help; painting walls and skirtings, binning stuff when they def don’t need!) but here’s the good bit in pics below ( cannae show you my toe I’ll be banned 🤢) My baba boys Alfie and Max …….
Hope your day has been less eventful than mine - wouldn’t be hard, have great weekend and as always you know where I am 😘❤️

💕 How lucky am I to be surrounded by these gorgeous families this weekend. Yesterday was the beautiful Alyviah’s Naming Day and today was gorgeous Ruben’s special day. Two of the most chilled, smiley babies - Ruben was so relaxed he fell asleep during the ceremony! Thank you for trusting me with your beautiful babies ❤️

❤️The most beautiful, kind, caring boy who had his whole life ahead of him and a lovely family who will forever love and miss him. Please like, follow and support the move for change in Ronan’s memory - he should still be here; still be making memories; he should have received the help he desperately needed and asked for over and over again 💔x

❤️ Long post alert - end of week reflections.

I love speaking to people about my job - I see so many folk I know at services and it’s great to catch up with friends I was at school with; colleagues and pupils from my teaching years and families I’ve worked with.

Being a Celebrant is such a privilege and one I never lose sight of - to be trusted to become a part of a family in their saddest and happiest times is an honour which should never be taken for granted.

We juggle the joy of Weddings, welcoming babies and the heartbreak of saying goodbye - often all in one week.

This week started for me with the service of a lady who had celebrated her hundredth birthday, lived a full and happy life. This week ended with the service for a beautiful, vibrant twelve year old girl whose life had just begun.

Both have left a legacy to be proud of - one in four generations of a family…… the other a girl who in donating her organs has given the gift of life to four other children.

There is an extra beautifully bright star in the sky tonight, right up there next to the moon and a lovely family who I will hold in my heart always ❤️

❤️ Monday afternoon and I’m doing a bit of everything - writing a funeral for a lovely lady; answering Wedding inquiries and making calls to families to arrange meetings for a blether ….with a bit of kitten cuddling thrown in.

Remember it’s not too late to be a 2026 Bride or Groom - some Weddings are years in the planning some are months ….. I still have some availability for this year, 2027 and booking into 2028. Feel free to phone, message, email 😘
