This week my Create Clubbers explored natures carnivorous plants! We looked at a few but we all liked the Venus Fly Trap the best. The children then set on to make their own Venus Fly Traps from card, using pastels and pens. They added teeth and googly eyes, along with a fly to catch. Great work everyone, some super Venus Fly Traps created!

Whoops I forgot to post last weeks photos from my Create Clubs! My Create Clubbers looked at how important the Rainforests are to the earth and what creature live there. They then had fun printing with leaves to make a rainforest picture before adding their own rainforest creatures which they drew using pastels and pens. Great work again last week! Well done everyone.

We’re looking for donations of children’s books in good condition so children who visit with their parents can enjoy a story while they’re here — and in some cases, take a book home to keep. A book can spark imagination, bring comfort, create a happy moment, and give a child something that lasts far beyond the day it is received.

If you have any children’s books at home that are clean, complete and ready to be loved again, we would be so grateful for your support. Every donated book helps us create a warmer, kinder space for local families across Driffield and the Wolds.

After celebrating the great Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday recently, my Create Clubbers had fun celebrating his life and the work he’s done to protect our planet and the creatures on it, by creating their own save our oceans art! They started by using watery paint to create a wash of blues, greens and turquoise’s to create their sea. They then used a range of collage and recycled materials to create a sea creature for their pictures. We talked about how litter and plastics get into the oceans and the damaging effects it has on the wildlife, so we used bottle tops, old cd’s, wrappers and more in our pictures rather than it be thrown away. We had some super results and lots of different creatures made from turtles, jellyfish, octopus and more. Well done everyone!

I didn’t get many photos this week at Create Club as my Monday group missed the session for Bank Holiday and my other groups were busy and had me busy helping. This week we thought about the animals and wildlife we see in our area. We talked about the birds, squirrels, foxes and more but also the Hedgehog! We talked about Hedgehog Highways, what they are and why they are important! The children then decorated a card hedgehog hog shape with recycled papers, natural materials and also made cute Hedgehogs from pine ones and card funnels for the face. They looked so cute but unfortunately I missed photoing them. Well done all.

These workshops allow you to explore a range of skechbooking techniques, try out new tools and materials and exchange ideas and have fun and relax.
Your first session will include a A5 hard back sketchbook plus a whole load of creative goodies to get you started. Each session will focus on a new technique such as using carbon paper, collage and cutouts, watercolours, printing and more.
