What if social care was about more than responding to crisis?

There’s an important conversation happening about the future of social care — but perhaps we need to look beyond simply meeting needs, and focus more on helping people thrive.

At The Fifth Trust, we see every day how meaningful activities, friendships, learning and opportunities to contribute can build confidence, independence and wellbeing for adults with learning disabilities.

A music session, a shift in our café, tending the vines or creating a piece of art might seem like small things — but they can have a big impact.

Our CEO, Nikki Marley, explores why we need to rethink social care and recognise the vital role community organisations play in preventing isolation, building independence and supporting people to live fulfilling lives.

Could investing in people before crisis strikes be the future of social care?

✨ A Sad Goodbye ✨

This has been a very difficult decision, but for many many reasons, the right choice. For now it's goodbye. Thank you to all my lovely customers, friends and family over the last four years. I'm so proud of how far Scatter and Slice went and the opportunities it gave me to explore a real passion.

My new role is going to keep me busy for a while, although I may reopen for select orders in 2026. Keep your eyes open!

All upcoming orders will be honoured or contacted to advise on options.
