While the camera is being repaired, I’m diving into the rest of the professional kit my dad gave me. These vintage lenses have so much character, completely different from modern glass.

I’ve actually been using the macro lens with an adapter on my digital camera (wait for the results at the end!), but there’s something about matching them back to the original film body that I’m craving.

Which one should I shoot with first, once the camera is back?

It’s a beautiful thing to look back at your earlier work and realize you’re seeing it through entirely new eyes. Lately, I’ve been revisiting the gallery I shot for Jeyleen and Cem, and it has been such a journey of reflection.

A further year of experience has taught me so much more than just technical skills. When I first edited these, I was my own harshest critic. I was incredibly selective, only choosing the photos where the couple looked “perfect” or was looking directly at the lens. I used to overlook the magic because I was chasing a standard that didn’t actually exist.

Coming back to these photos now, I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of the unfiltered and the spontaneous.

I found so many “new” favorites in this gallery: the bursts of laughter, the subconscious way they hold one another, and those quiet gestures they didn’t even realize they were making. I’ve realized that the most “perfect” photo isn’t the one that is technically flawless, but the one that tells the truest story.

This evolution is about more than just photography. I’ve matured as an editor and a storyteller, but also as a person. Finding the love of my life has changed how I perceive yours. It has given me the heart to understand what couples are feeling in those fleeting moments, allowing me to organize their story in a way that feels intentional and real. 🤍
