Rachael & Neil

I was delighted when Rachael asked for a contemporary bouquet with orchids, callas and trailing amaranthus. She liked a structural aesthetic but allowed me to soften the overall look with gorgeous blush pink anthuriums and pale green hellebores mixed in.

Funky fresh fruit & flowers for Rachael & Neil at last month! 🍅🍇🍋‍🟩

I’m so lucky to have brides that give me so much creative freedom. Rachael knew she liked a very contemporary vibe and suggested adding the fruit herself. I loved creating such a bold colour palette with her and creating this set up on the top table - the smell was delicious!

The Met gala theme this year was ‘Fashion is Art’ - so naturally I decided to create a floral arrangement inspired by some of my favourite works of art.

In a previous life I was lucky enough to work at the in London where I was surrounded by beautiful paintings every day. I always adored the 17th century Dutch flower paintings and our red and white striped tulips from the garden reminded me of them perfectly.

I’ve pondered over whether or not to post this, but I think it’s interesting as it shows how much flowers move and ultimately decide themselves where they want to go. Usually, I’d create an arrangement on a high bench, not overthinking, just popping bits in and pulling them out quickly if they don’t look right and enjoying the process. Creating a reel disrupted this whole process, it felt really unnatural to keep stopping and starting and I think there’s moments along the way where I’ve interrupted something beautiful forming. What do you think?

Big respect to florists who make reels and apologies for when the grapes make the linen all grubby!
