January is always a busy month for funerals. Creating tributes for your lost loved ones is an honour. I love hearing about the type of person they were and what their favourite flowers were. I love seeing how your face lights up when you’re telling me about them and reliving fond memories of bygone times. A floral tribute is the last gift you will give them. I have four funerals this week and it was so cold in my studio last night that I moved in to work on the kitchen island. I was up late creating and thinking about the people whose flowers I was making. The one thing about floristry is everything I am ever asked to make is an expression of someone’s love and that to me is wonderful.

I will never tire of rich, deep and sumptuous winter floral colour. My designs are packed full of form, tone and texture and make for interesting bouquets and arrangements.

Last year we were knee deep in our house reno and had scaffolding up so we didn’t even have a Christmas tree, let alone have time to decorate the front of the house! So this year I’ve created a festive entrance, and I’m obsessed!

Being sent professional images of a wedding you have been involved with is always so gratefully received. I’m often so busy behind the scenes and moving flowers around the venue that I don’t have time to take good photos of my florals! The Picture Gallery at Somerley House looking beautiful for C>’s wedding. My brief was pretty florals reminiscent of an English country garden. We used florals in soft pinks, whites and blues which looked gorgeous against the green paintwork in this historical family home.
