X-country video of Nero at Allerton Park in The Novice Masters

22/09/2026

It was lovely to be back at Allerton Park this year, always a great event.

Maggie McGonigal’s Sannabays Inferno contested the Novice Masters, and produced a very respectable dressage, and showed his class in the jumping phases, making it all feel very easy to finish 8th 🏵️

Shamalama had his first go at a BE100, and what a star he is proving to be, a nice dressage, and 2 brilliant jumping rounds, to finish just outside the top 10

A great day with great company, thank you to all team Mcg for keeping us going on a very long day ☺️

For charity Michelle will be hiking 15 miles summiting Skiddaw and three iconic Wainwrights. She has to navigate to a unique what3words location high in the fells. There, she will plant seeds at altitude, leaving behind a living legacy for nature, wildlife, and local communities. Any donations to support this would be appreciated ☺️

We had a whirlwind of a weekend last week when less than 12 hours from arriving home from holiday, I trotted down the centre line for Sannabays Inferno’s first 2*! And what a superstar he was, he tried really hard in his dressage, jumped a lovely SJ round a very tricky track, and a superb XC, making it all feel very easy to finish top 10 - what a star he is! Huge thanks to Team Mcg for keeping him going in my absence and helping towards this great result! Onwards and upwards

Great day at Bradwall Horse Trials yesterday, Maggie McGonigal’s Sannabays Inferno was contesting the Novice, where he produced a lovely test, and a fabulous double clear around a testing track to take the win, making it all feel very easy 🥇

Fabulous run at Thoresby Park! ✨
Standing Point put in a fantastic round in the Novice, jumping brilliantly and flying around the cross-country with ease, well inside the time. Unfortunately, we were held just before a tricky corner combination, so I chose to take the long route. That decision added 6.4 time faults, meaning we just missed out on a top 10 finish—but I couldn’t be happier with the performance overall! 💪🐎

We’re lucky enough to have the catch ride on Maggie McGonigal’s fabulous horse Nero, while the current jockey is temporarily sidelined! After minimal training time together we headed to Northallerton for the 100, and produced a solid dressage and brilliant double clear to take the win 🥇 testaments to work on him over the past few seasons. Looking forward to some more events together ☺️
