I thought after what went on with the SoundScape competition this week, this is best coming from me…….
Im 50/50 owner of both Rave Pass and SoundScape, so im kind of stuck in the middle (which is one of the reasons why I’ve stayed quiet for a few days) and not commented until I could figure out what to do!
This is what has happened……
When we announced the DJ/MC competition last week the instant interest to enter and sign up crashed site!
In a way that made me feel a bit humble, because lots of people speak highly of the event, and clearly want to be a part of it!
Everyone knows how much work I put in to building up this brand over the last 9 year with Scott, and now Suzanne……
It’s been clear to see the last year or so that putting on events like this is not easy, so people need to understand when they so quick to jump on the situation!
Anyway in the background Kieren was being hammered with messages of people trying to either register or vote and he soon realised that the email verification was the problem!!
So rather than fix the problem (which could have taken days) he removed the email verification feature until he could sort it, so people were not losing votes!
However, a few people figured this out and decided to set up bogus accounts to cast votes!!!
These votes were spread across 11 entrants!!!
When I found out I Genuinely just wanted to cancel the whole thing, some people made jokes, some were not happy…….but to see 2 brands I have passionately helped build be brought in a bad light, was not nice for me!!!
I can clearly see by the last 2/3 days of my inbox being bombarded that people do want to play at the event, and don’t want to see it cancelled.
So the decision between Myself & Suzanne is to push ahead with the competition.
I have spoken with Kieren who runs the site.
He has removed the votes cast by fake emails, and put the email verification back on to the voting system so this can’t happen again!
Good luck to everyone.
We will see 2 of you on the Stage at SoundScape 2027 😉
