A fabulous afternoon was held at the Centenary Celebrations this afternoon. A good turn out saw pupils from Norton Junior School place items in a time capsule which will be placed under the hall floor & opened in 50 years time. The students then helped serve tasty refreshments to attendees.
We were also honoured to welcome Sir Anthony & Lady Joanna Cooke-Yarborough who had travelled quite a distance to join us on this special occasion. In 1925, Sir Anthony’s Grandfather (who lived at Campsmount) had gifted the land to build the hall to the village & building started later in the year. The hall opened at the end of May 1926.
After the refreshments, music was played and Jane gave instructions to those wishing to dance. It was good to see all ages taking part in the dancing.
Many thanks to the pupils from NJS for being part of our celebrations, for helping and being extremely well behaved.
Thanks also to Harry Clarke & team for supplying a fantastic buffet & to Jane Murray for providing the music & guidance for the dancing.
Thanks also to those who attended and once again supporting the hall.
