Continuing our summer mini-series, all about โwhat makes The Oaks Uniqueโ, we hit on one of our favourite factors โ Part 4 // Sustainable Values.
Rewinding back to lockdown when we were unsure of the future of weddings, we decided to pour even more time and love into the building, in hope it would all come right again! During the general maintenance of nurturing our vast collection of woodland, we had taken quite a few branches down which simply could not go to waste. A wild and rustic arch was constructed by hand around the entrance, just for fun, no public could see it but we got lots of photos of the very first version of our seasonal foliage package.
The idea was born and now we offer a wide variety of foliage packages, cut with love by hand from within our 25 acres and constructed the day before or day of your wedding. Not one installation looks the same, your venue dresser or florist is welcome to add pops of colour with fresh flowers or leave it as it is. Both look equally as show stopping.
The trees cut down from within the grounds are milled on site and turned into furniture or split into logs. Have you ever seen our log pallet back drop in the Log Barn ceremony room? The stacks of logs are not just for dรฉcor, couples say their โI Doโsโ in front of a three year log drying cycle! The wood is used to feed the feature log burner in The Forest Room and our own home too!
The impressive round tables that our guests dine upon are giant cable drums, smoothed over and treated but with still with plenty of branding and strange marks visible. The wooden chairs were once situated in a local school and the ceremony benches were once trees that came down during a heavy storm!
Our very pampered alpacas also supply a unique form of sustainability; their wool provides brilliant insulation in all of our buildings!
