Vaughan's Kitchen includes:
- Cookery School set in an industrial kitchen in Devizes, Wiltshire, teaching adults, children and students in a wide ranging variety of courses that appeal to all ages and abilities. For students it may be preparation for university, gap year or living alone and for adults it may be for improving skills or learning new skills.
- Corporate events - we are familiar wit

h working with large and small organisations to help with promoting their businesses or helping with staff training. We cater for any event however big or small. From christenings, birthdays and funerals to weddings and anniversaries. Our food is different! We use our "naturally balanced approach" using local, seasonal and Fair Trade food - forget sausage rolls and quiche; we can do better than that!
- In the community & education. We have specialists on board who have worked in schools for many years - they are used to working with children from Reception through to sixth form and will tailor a package for your school, your needs and your budget.

There's a week to celebrate everything these days and today is a start of 👨‍🍳British Cookery School's Week👨‍🍳
We are members of the ICSA, Independent Cookery Schools Association , which is the only regulatory body for cookery schools in the UK. We are inspected and assessed so, If you're signing up for a cookery course anywhere, look for the ‘ICSA Kite Mark Of Quality’ to be assured of an accredited teaching experience.

A multitude of themes have been set for the week: Cook well for less’: Learn from the experts: Sustainable Cooking, Healthy Eating - and all of those are right up our street.

Let's start with 'Learn from the Experts' because if you are free next Saturday 11th Oct and you want to improve your culinary skills, there are two places left on French Cookery Classics class. Tutor Catherine Maxwell is a fully qualified chef and teacher who has worked for Michel Roux Jnr and in other fine dining establishments. Customers describe her teaching style as "... calm, reassuring and extremely knowledgeable."

🎄🎄🎄You may think it's too soon to start Christmas shopping - but... 🎄🎄🎄..we have certainly noticed increasing number of conversations and enquiries about Festive get together ideas for work colleagues. For the same price as a meal in a restaurant, we can offer something that is rather more exciting!

In teams you race against the clock (and the other teams!) to produce a delicious meal. There are tasks to suit everyone, from the Gordon Ramsey Wannabes to those who only know their way to the toaster. Competition is fierce as the finished dishes are judged and prizes awarded. Then you sit down to enjoy your meal with a glass of wine and a feeling of satisfaction🤩

We can accommodate smaller groups at our cookery school in Devizes (perfect for small businesses or an office team of a bigger organisation) but can also deliver this to larger numbers at other locations.

We kick start our autumn set of op-up dining experiences with a journey to the West Indies. This dinner is inspired by Chef Peter's culinary 'stage' on the island of Barbados. It's a long story as to how he ended up living with a Bajan family there and filming a series for Granada TV with the late Lyndsey de Paul as presenter. He'll tell all during the evening, plus how he entered the Annual Crop Over Carnival and was practically the only white face in the entire procession. He was also introduced to the national drink of the island, Mount Gay Rum Punch - and had a very good time indeed!

French Cookery Classics class on Saturday, 11th October will be led by Catherine Maxwell.

Catherine trained as a chef, studying French classical cuisine and, after she had qualified, working there as well. Back in the UK, she spent time in charge of the pastry kitchen at Le Gavroche, Michel Roux Jnr's Michelin-starred restaurant in London.

She likes the traditional dishes because of the history and the use of local ingredients.

In words of one of our past students: "Catherine explains everything so clearly. She is calm, reassuring and extremely knowledgeable."

Peter will take you on a culinary journey involving a wide range of spices and wonderful textures and colours and help you create some delicious food that you would find for sale on the streets in this colourful country. He will guide you through:
🌶making your own garam masala and creating a 'spice intensity' that suits your palate
🌶oven baked samosas
🌶garam aloo
🌶tarka dhal
🌶quick aromatic rice pilaff
🌶(possibly) the best bhajis in Wiltshire
