Throwback Thursday…
Summer 2010 - 15 years ago this year, I launched the first house music nights at The Olive Lounge in Rothwell with my co-promoter Chris Pruden - initially an exclusive invite-only party night, ‘YOU GOT THE LOVE’, followed later in the year by our first ticketed public party ‘GET BACK TO LOVE’.
The success of these first two classic house parties saw us continue with another two years of Spring, Summer and Autumn ‘LIVE LOUNGE’ ticket only live DJ sessions, often just me playing non-stop marathon 6 hour vinyl sets across the house spectrum, with occasional guests, and including a 12 hour Bank Holiday all-dayer with BBQ.
The vibes were great, the crowd was dressy and up for it, and we often packed the place out, releasing additional tickets. The venue even rebuilt and extended their bar to cope with the demand on those nights.
After three years we took a break, but we’d created the demand and the gap was soon well filled by other brands like DEPARTURE BEATS and LA MAISON. Our three years of parties put Rothwell on the map and created the early building blocks for my LoveGeneration brand which launched at Aura three years later.
Fast forward to this Friday and now the amazing Dance Till Dawn crew return to the Vintage Vault - formerly the Olive Lounge - for what promises to be one of the local parties of the year - MAD FRIDAY. I’ll be making a return to the venue as a DJ for the first time since 2012, catch me playing 7-8pm. La Maison legend Botty kicks us off from 5pm.
