Sobering news for the NI events and Music sector today as Hillsborough's Sunflowerfest has had to cancel their event this year.
It shines a light on the precarious state of independent events post covid and shows that for events like ours, a couple of bad years is all it takes to turn the lights out.
We empathise with how tough it is for independent events in the current climate, rebuilding post covid and during this cost of living crisis has been as challenging a time in the sector as we have ever had.
If you don't want to pay extortionate prices for events run by multi-millionaire backed mega companies, then supporting independent events on your doorstep is more important now than ever. Independent events are more often than not a lot more affordable across the board and have much more heart, soul and love running through them than many other events.
We would like to wish everyone involved in Sunflowerfest the best of luck navigating the road ahead and we sincerely hope that for the wider development of NI events and music that this is only a short break and we will see you again down the line.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported Stendhal Festival in these trying times of rebuilding, we greatly appreciate it and we can't wait to see you in the summer.

Love Team Stendhal x

LAST MINUTE LINE-UP CHANGE. Due to circumstances beyond everyone's control, Susie Blue has had to pull out of tomorrow's gig at the Nerve Centre. Our new show-topping songstress will be Derry's one and only Miss MaryJane. Self branded the ‘Maiden City Man-eater’ 😂 this 21 year old acoustic singer/songwriter/ drag artist has been performing on the local music circuit for the past 4 years and has strived to help carve out a scene for local Q***r and LGBT entertainment in the city. Her act is all about hyper glamour and sexiness merged with the intimacy and atmospheric qualities of acoustic/jazz music. Appearing alongside Mel Bradley (HouseofMel) and Scarlett Fever, this really is going to be a night to remember. Admission is free and there are only a few table's left in this intimate, all-seated cabaret, where table service for food and drink means you can just sit back and enjoy the show. Today's featured artist from our Promising After Party at the Nerve Centre on Friday 26th is the phenomenal Scarlett Fever. Completing the line-up alongside Mel Bradley (HouseofMel) and Susie blue, Scarlett (aka Nadine Hegarty) is one of the most provocative and original performance artists working today. She will be performing her original piece, Salem's Secret, which is sure to stimulate some interesting, and perhaps uncomfortable, questions about the nature of toxic masculinity.

Today's featured artist from our Promising After Party at the Nerve Centre on Friday 26th is the amazing Mel Bradley (HouseofMel). As well as acting as MC for the event which includes Susie blue and Scarlett Fever, Mel will give a spoken word performance from her recent work The Mary Project which seeks to subvert the idea of a voiceless Mary, reclaiming her as a human with plenty to say to the women of Ireland.
