Following on from Friday's post for Emirati Women's Day, we wanted to share more about the event our team attended.

Our staff joined "Her Nation, Her Strength" at Expo City Dubai's Connect Conference Centre, a morning of panel discussions bringing together voices from across government, healthcare and technology to mark the occasion.

Maha Gorton, Head of the Women's Pavilion, opened the event.

The first panel, Leading Under Pressure, explored the lived experiences of Emirati women who led through uncertainty, with Dr Ayesha Almemari (Consultant, Emergency Medicine & Critical Care), Iman Alomrani (Chief Digital Advisor, AWS) and Noor Al Geziry (Associate Vice President, DCTCM), moderated by Marjan Faraidooni, Chief People Officer and Chief of Education and Culture at Expo City Dubai.

The second, The Hands That Hold Us, turned to the women sustaining the nation through daily work in classrooms, clinics and communities, with Samira Al Awadhi (School Principal, Al Mawakeb School Al Khawaneej), Bedour AlRaqbani (Founder & CEO, Maseer Initiatives) and Asma Al Mesmari (Assistant Director of Nursing, SEHA - SKMC), moderated by Yasmin Baker of the Expo City Dubai Foundation. Closing remarks came from Eman Abdulrazzaq, Group Chief of Human Resource and Operations at Emirates NBD.

Proud to see our team engaging with conversations like these, celebrating the women shaping the UAE's future.

Emirati Women's Day is a moment to celebrate the achievements, leadership and resilience of women across the UAE.

Resilient women may not have felt strong in that moment, but they always showed up anyway. That's what leadership often looks like. Not having all the answers, but standing in the space regardless, and trusting the people around you to hold up their part too. Because none of us lead alone. We complement each other, different strengths, different roles, one outcome.

It's the same principle we live by in safety. Nobody manages a site, an event or a crowd single-handedly.

We each bring a different piece, planning, risk, logistics, people, and it's the sum of those roles working together that gets the job done and holds against whatever resilience is tested that day, whatever form it takes.

Today, we honour the Emirati women who showed up when we needed them. Because thriving cities begin with thriving women, together, we rise stronger and better.

Team Ogma Safety is on the move today, staff flying in from the Middle East to London ahead of a weekend event, with the rest of the team joining from Ireland.

Looking forward to everyone being together for this one, and to expanding our core team with some of our regular, trusted freelancers along the way. Good to catch up with familiar faces and get stuck into the event together.

Fitness District Abu Dhabi was back for its second edition, running from 17th August until 23rd August, and we're glad that we got to be involved once again.

A family affair at heart, the event brought together fitness challenges, activations, and a range of F&B offerings, giving people of all ages and abilities a fun and welcoming way to get active together.

Our team was back onsite providing health and safety management, building on the planning and relationships established during the first edition to help everything run safely and smoothly for everyone taking part.

It was great to see the event grow, and was a reflection of the hard work put in by the organisers and partners behind it. We hope everyone who visited enjoyed the experience.

It was great to attend the Middle East Event Show last week with colleagues from Ogma Safety.

One session that stuck with us was "The Future of Our Beloved Freelancers", a panel that pulled in some genuinely different perspectives on where freelance talent sits in this industry's future.

What landed hardest for us, though, was a comment from Adriene Araujo of Coca-Cola Arena during a discussion on AI in events. Paraphrasing loosely, but the point was this, when it comes to something like emergency situations and for example an egress, she'd want to know a trained professional was the one making that call, not an algorithm.

At Ogma Safety that's stayed with us, and discussions continued post event, working in safety it's important to stay up to date with technological advances as well as research in our field. AI has a real role to play as a tool, helping us plan, predict, and prepare. But it can't be the decision maker. When it comes to keeping people safe, that responsibility has to sit with trained professionals who understand the environment, the risks, and the people in front of them.

It was a good couple of days, listening, learning, and being reminded why this industry runs on people first.

Féile Festival 2026

Féile Derry 2026 is the city's biggest community arts and cultural festival, which took place from 5th-15th August with its largest programme to date, over 150 events across more than 40 venues throughout the Bogside, Brandywell, Bishop Street, Creggan, Fountain and city centre.

Ogma Safety supported the safe delivery of a number of selected events within the festival programme this year, including community fun days, the Derry City FC Open Training Session, the Féile Parade and other activities.

Our team provided event health and safety planning and risk assessment, site inspections, on-site safety management and stewarding services, working closely with Féile organisers, contractors and stakeholders to help ensure each supported event was delivered safely and successfully for attendees, staff and participants.

Thank you again for trusting in Ogma Safety to support your event.

It was a pleasure for the Ogma Safety team to be supporting an outdoor event in Dresden, Germany, working alongside a fantastic project team to help deliver another successful event.

From a day of persistent rain to soaring temperatures, alongside hot conditions throughout both the build and de-rig phases, this project was a reminder of just how quickly weather conditions can change, and how important it is to be prepared.

As temperatures continue to rise across Europe and weather patterns become increasingly unpredictable, event organisers must ensure that weather planning is more than just a contingency, it's an integral part of event delivery.

Whether it's:
☀️ Protecting staff and contractors during build and de-rig
💧 Providing hydration and welfare facilities
🌡️ Monitoring heat stress and implementing suitable work/rest regimes
🌧️ Preparing for heavy rainfall and changing ground conditions
👥 Ensuring guests have access to shade, information and appropriate emergency procedures

Effective weather management is about protecting people while keeping events running safely and successfully.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in the project. Collaboration, planning and adaptability are what make successful events possible, whatever the forecast.

It was fantastic to be a part of the first edition of Fitness District Abu Dhabi 2026, taking place from 1–10 August.

Bringing together community workouts, MMA, Jiu-Jitsu competitions, and a shared passion for health and wellbeing, the event is creating an exciting new platform that encourages people of all ages and abilities to get active.

At Ogma Safety, we're proud to have supported the event through both pre-production planning and onsite health and safety management, helping to create an environment where participants, athletes, spectators and event teams can enjoy the experience safely and confidently.

Behind every successful sporting event is months of planning, collaboration and preparation. We're grateful to work alongside dedicated organisers, partners and operational teams who understand that great events are built on strong foundations.
Best of luck to everyone competing and taking part throughout the remainder of the event, we're looking forward to seeing Fitness District continue to grow in the years ahead.

Ogma Safety had an incredible week at Clonmany Festival 2026.

From that vibrant opening day parade right through to the final night's celebrations, the festival once again proved why it's such a special part of the community calendar. Colourful floats, local groups, musicians, performers and families lining the streets, nightly concerts under the stars, and a genuine sense of togetherness from start to finish.

With thousands making their way to Clonmany across the week, it's always inspiring to see people of all ages come together to celebrate local culture, tradition and community spirit on this scale.

A huge congratulations to our client and to everyone involved in organising, participating in and supporting this year's celebrations. The time, effort and dedication that goes into bringing an event like this to life was evident from day one right through to the last.

We're delighted to have played our part behind the scenes this year, working closely with the festival team on event security and crowd management throughout the week, as well as supporting the safety planning and licensing process alongside production in the lead-up. It's safe to say the festival delivered from start to finish.

Here's to a safe, enjoyable and memorable festival for everyone involved, until next time!
