Another new neighbour opening up in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter, and we absolutely love seeing our little corner of the city growing!

It’s so lovely to see new independent businesses choosing to make the Cathedral Quarter their home. There’s something really special about local businesses supporting one another.

A café AND a bookshop? What’s not to love! We’ll definitely be popping in to browse the book collection and show our support.

Sometimes, just getting out of the house can feel like the biggest challenge in the world.

For some, walking through the door of a coffee shop might seem like the simplest thing. For others, it can take every bit of courage they have.

This World Mental Health Day, we want to remind you that you are always welcome at Café BLANC. Not just today, but every single day. 💚

If you're struggling, feeling lonely, overwhelmed or simply need a change of scenery, and you can find the strength to pop in, please do.

You don't have to be chatty, you don't have to pretend you're having a good day, and you certainly don't have to explain yourself.

Whether you fancy a friendly conversation, a little company, or simply want to sit quietly with a coffee, watch the world go by and enjoy a moment of peace, that's absolutely fine with us.

There's no pressure to be anything other than yourself.

Monday evening is the Marketing Derby Food & Drink Awards 2026, and we couldn't be more excited!

Of course, we'd absolutely love to bring home the award for Best Café (who wouldn't?), but whatever happens on Monday night, we already feel like winners.

To have opened our doors for the very first time in January and now find ourselves in the 𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝟯 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗔𝗙É𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗕𝗬
in our very first year is something we're incredibly proud of.

It's been quite a journey, with plenty of challenges along the way, but our wonderful team and the amazing support we've received from our customers have made it all worthwhile.

We want to wish every finalist the very best of luck on Monday evening. Whoever takes home the awards, we hope you have a fantastic year ahead. ❤️

We’re looking for a confident, reliable and experienced person to join our team at Café BLANC in Derby city centre.

We’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and understands what excellent customer service looks like.

Previous coffee shop, café, hospitality or customer-facing experience would be a real advantage, although full training will be provided for the right person.

You’ll need to be:

• Confident, friendly and professional
• Reliable and able to use your own initiative
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
• Happy to undertake lone working
• Comfortable being a key holder and taking responsibility for opening and closing the coffee shop
• Passionate about delivering excellent customer service
• Flexible with availability, including weekends

For the right person, there is also the potential to take on more responsibility and progress within Café BLANC.

There’s plenty to tempt you at Café BLANC this week.

Just wanted to share a little reminder that, although what’s happened over the last month has been soul destroying, there is still so much good in the world. In fact, I believe there’s far more good than bad.

Earlier this week, I introduced you to Troy. When I was opening up, as I usually do, a few workers were standing outside. Troy and his dad, Andy, took a detour down St James’s Street just to check that I was okay.

How lovely is that? It really warmed my heart. Thank you, Troy and Andy. I appreciate it more than you know.

The next coffee is on me!
