People often ask me which is my favourite venue. I've got a few. But after a whole weekend at The River Mill, I can safely say it's near the top. It's the perfect size for a smaller wedding and has everything you need in a neat but stylish package. J&L kept their styling minimal with a simple fabric backdrop and bunches of beautiful colourful flowers. An ice cream truck during the drinks reception, pizza buffet in the evening and a very chilled and happy couple made for a relaxed and memorable day.

I'm off to Shottle Hall for a midweek wedding this week. I've only ever been there for this winter prom shoot so I'm very much looking forward to approaching it in a new light with some lovely newlyweds at the shiny end of my lens.

Happy wedding day!!! 💍 I'm off to today for the wedding of H&B. They're having an outdoor ceremony under the gorgeous dome and have really struck lucky with the weather. If their pre-wedding shoot is anything to go by we're going to have a lot of fun. Now where's my sun cream? ☀️

I've had quite a few pre-wedding shoots lately. I love meeting my couples before their big day, it makes such a difference when the wedding comes around if we're not strangers! P&N have had their shoot well ahead of time because they want to use the pics in their invites.

This one was a really special one. A gorgeous location with ruins and a stream; a chilled vibe reading books on a picnic blanket and a field full of cows and gorgeous little calves.

T&S brought more than a little bit of glam to Derby this week as they married at the recently relocated registry office followed by a banging party at Bess of Hardwick. This was a wedding full of personality and fun but most of all love. It was so very clear how perfect they were for each other.

This was my first visit to Derby's register office since it moved from the Market Place across the road to the Riverside Chambers. Definitely a good move, it's more spacious, more modernly decorated and more opportunities for nice pictures. 👍🏻 And of course I took the newly weds for a stroll around the Cathedral Quarter for pics. Here's a few of their previews...

I'm off to the Derbyshire Peaks tomorrow for a workshop with .workshop. I'm really looking forward to meeting some other wedding photographers, sharing ideas and learning something new. Really trying to take the time to invest in improving my work, even when I'm super busy.

These photos were shot in 2020 when I dragged my friend Hannah into the peaks during a storm and a pandemic to shoot something gorgeous at Froggatt Edge. I think these stand the test of time and show the best light comes after a storm.

I'm popping into Derby City Centre for tomorrow's wedding so I thought I'd do a throwback to the last time I took a couple around the Cathedral Quarter. I love urban portraits, especially in my home town as it makes me look at places I see every day in a new light.
