For our May gig this week, on Thurs 22 May, we are thrilled to be welcoming the ‘Guv’nor of Folk Rock’ Ashley Hutchings to Melbourne Assembly Rooms! Not only is Ashley a legendary bassist, songwriter, arranger, band leader, writer and record producer… he is also the founding member of three of the most iconic English folk-rock bands: Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span and The Albion Band and, more recently, his new musical project: The Rainbow Chasers.
Ashley’s show ‘“100 Not Out” celebrates and draws from his 100th Album release and he is joined on stage by acclaimed vocalist and guitarist, Becky Mills, as they perform favourite songs from his repertoire and also some favourites from the songbook of Bob Dylan ~ with whom Ashley has formed a close personal friendship…

The Boy Band's Tour Reaches its Final Week!

"When a gig ends with a standing ovation you know everyone has had a great time and that was confirmed at the near sellout Peter Knight's Gigspanner at the Trinity Centre Ringwood, a remarkable evening from a remarkable power trio" Fatea Review.

There have been lots of standing ovations on this tour, so everyone must have been having a great time on that basis. The trio is certainly having a 'moment', with a lot of interest in their unique approach.

Don't miss out if any of these dates are remotely possible for you.
Special stuff is worth seeking out. They won't be around forever.

Yes, it’s finally GIG DAY folks and we can’t wait to welcome the utterly amazing Martyn Joseph to Melbourne Assembly Rooms tonight! It’s also an extra special evening, as this month’s gig celebrates our TENTH BIRTHDAY as Village Folk! To celebrate further, we have a FULL HOUSE ready and waiting, for what will be Martyn’s second visit to Village Folk and of course we have our wonderful audience to thank, for booking their tickets well in advance! We all just know, that it will be an absolutely fabulous evening and we look forward to seeing you there.

On 11th August 2023, a dream came true and I got to perform at Fairport's Cropredy Convention Official page along with Frances, Nathan, Ed, Olly and Kat. It was unforgettably, life-affirmingly spectacular and 99% of that is thanks to the audience; I'll never forget the sound of 10,000 people singing a song I wrote right back at me. If you're reading this, there's a good chance that's you. Thank you.

I hired a film crew to join us on stage to capture the whole thing on film and along with multitracked audio from the desk and the footage captured by the amazing Cropredy camera team, we've got more than enough material to create a live album and film.

As an independent artist, I have to be a one-man production studio, editor, graphic designer and - when I get around to it - songwriter and musician! With other projects, work and life happening, I haven't managed to do anything with this incredible footage of the most incredible of days.

It's time to change that. This wasn't just a special day for me; it was special to the many people who were there, it will be special to those who didn't manage to be there and I think it is only right I put in the effort so you can enjoy this footage too.
