Pandora’s Box of Florals

Quite what Hattie is guarding the flowers from is beyond me 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

This is Hattie’s regular Sentry Duty spot! Good vantage point I suppose.

Do your fur babies have a favourite spot?

I met the lovely Dundee from at at the weekend.

Her new product Phoam is a completely biodegradable and fully compostable florists foam made from Corn byproducts. Remember the packing ‘peanuts’ that are made from corn that literally dissolve in water? Well this is similar except it doesn’t dissolve.

Unlike other products, that whilst heading in the tight direction, are only 85% compostable, these phoam bricks will happily break down in your compost bin or your council collected garden waste bin.

Dundee says It is also REUSABLE - I have only used it this once as yet but I will come back to you on that when the time comes.

It is actually very sturdy and strong and you can compress it into your vessel. If the sides are straight and not contoured it literally will just push in and not move but I found using it in my contoured and tapered bowl as soon as I topped the water up buoyancy prevailed and it floated up even though it was tight in, so I did need to anchor it in.

It has a strange texture 🤔 almost like you are pushing the stems into ‘dried flower’ foam and I found that for delicate stems such as the small head Chrysanthemum (and it was being used in the Challenge so I had a lot of these stems) I found I needed to make a pilot hole with a tooth pick first or the stems were breaking.

Beyond all of the above it’s a Win Win up to now!

You can find Dundee and her product over on insta

Celebrating the beauty that is
The Chrysanthemum.

I think just because the bloom shouts the loudest doesn’t necessarily means she steals the show - peripheral floating flowers are just as impactful.

Why don’t you share your Chrysanthemum arrangements with the hashtag JustChrysChallenge.

Conditioning the Chrysanthemum for the challange.

So today at the Gauntlet was thrown down

Chrysanthemum are really underrated in the floral world and today this fabulous box of chrysanthemums were offered out for people to show the world just how beautiful and versatile these flowers are.
In order to receive a box and hence join the challange we were charged with giving a ‘remit’ to tell them why you would be the best to receive a box.
I shouted out ‘because they are always the bridesmaid, never the bride!’

Rather apt I thought. Then the second thought to enter my head after they said “yes!!!” to me having a box, hence joining the challenge was “what have you done you Eejit!!” 🙈

So for better or worse as it were…………
I’ll keep you updated
