Every Tuesday at 5pm, our hall sits empty. We'd quite like to change that.

We've got a regular weekly slot available in the main hall every Tuesday from next week, and we're looking for a group, club, class or activity that could make good use of it.

The space is available from 5pm–6pm, with access from 4.30pm for set-up and until 6.30pm for clearing away.

It could be a children's activity, fitness class, community group, hobby club, wellbeing session, youth group, support group or something we've not even thought of yet 😅

If you've been looking for a welcoming community space in the heart of Denby Dale, we'd love to have a chat.

If you're planning on visiting the Denby Dale District Lions Scarecrow Trail this year, make sure you add The Pie Hall to your list of places to stop on the Saturday (27 June).

We've got a full day of activities, food, drink and family fun taking place right here at the Pie Hall:

🎨 Craft Fair (11am–4pm)

✨ Glitter Tattoos, Bead Bar & Pet Adoption Bar from A Little Bit of Glitter (from 11am)

🍟 The Big Yellow Chippy Van (from 12pm)

🥧 Pie & Peas with Rations Village Store & Kitchen (6pm–9pm)

🕺 FREE Family Scarecrow Disco (from 6pm)

🍺 Bar 1788 open all day

So, if you're out exploring the trail, call in and see us. Grab a bite to eat, have a drink, browse the craft stalls, keep the kids entertained, and stay for the disco.

There's enough going on to make a full day of it.

It's also a chance to support local makers, local businesses and your local community venue while enjoying one of Denby Dale's best-loved events.

Over the past few months we've seen a number of local pubs, clubs, venues and community spaces close their doors, and it's hard not to feel sad about it.

Every one of those places meant something to somebody. They were where people met friends, celebrated birthdays, joined clubs, watched live music, held fundraising events, played sport, volunteered, or just popped in for a chat and a pint after a long day.

It's easy to assume the places we value will always be there, but the reality is that many local businesses are finding things incredibly tough at the moment. Rising costs, changing habits and tighter household budgets are affecting community venues and hospitality businesses everywhere.

We're not sharing this because we want sympathy, and we're certainly not trying to guilt anybody into spending money they don't have.

We're sharing it because every time a local venue closes, the community loses a little piece of itself.

So if you've been meaning to call in for a drink, attend an event, join a group, book a celebration, watch some live music or support a local fundraiser, don't keep putting it off. The places we value need people through the door, not just fond memories and good intentions.

Let's not take them for granted.

It was another fantastic Open Mic Night on Friday Night in Bar 1788 at The Pie Hall 🎤

Here's when you'll find us open this week:

Tuesday 9 June: 10am – 2pm
Thursday 11 June: 10am – 2pm
Friday 12 June: 1pm – close
Saturday 13 June: 7pm – midnight

Remember, Thursday is our Craft Circle running from 11am–1pm - bring whatever you're working on and come and enjoy some company. All welcome.

Not just a "bar" either - we have hot drinks and soft drinks alongside your favourite alcoholic tipples. So whatever you're in the mood for, there's something for you.

No membership needed. Dogs welcome, takeaways welcome, everyone welcome.

We're open to everyone from 7pm til 11pm - pop in for a drink and soak up the atmosphere.

It's also the night of the Kirklees Guitar School Podcast live recording here in the hall, so there'll be a proper buzz about the place.
