Is your toaster spying on you? 👀🍞

The answer might surprise you.

A while back, I asked if anyone was interested in AI. Well despite a muted response from Delph folk and one definite “no” here’s the first edition of ‘Tomorrow’s Saddleworth’…remember Raymond Baxter, I do just about.

So we’re covering everything from smart toasters and robotic surgeons to voice-cloning scams… and whether an AI could ever really pull a pint at the Band Club or Lion 🤖🍺

This isn’t sci-fi. It’s happening right here, right now (well not the pints yet).

In the next edition I’ll be sharing my thoughts on various at risk jobs, so let me know what you do for a living (I’m not data mining!) and next time I’ll tell you what you should be scared of and perhaps how to future proof yourself.

A while back, I put a message out on the local Facebook group asking if anyone was interested in learning a bit more about Artificial Intelligence (AI). I was expecting a resounding "yes!" from the village. Well, two people could be arsed to respond, and one simply said "no."

Fantastic turnout despite the pretty rubbish weather. Thanks to all the volunteers for making Delph buzz with excitement – how fantastic does our village look?

Ridiculously good!!

That’s our very own, 175 year old, Delph Band playing all your Christmas favourites.

Every year, this is the moment Delph truly feels like Christmas has begun.
Trees light up, Mulled wine flows, Santa and D’Elf bring delight to the kids, the band plays and Delph comes together as a community.

Times might be tough but this event warms your heart ❤️.

‼️ We need your support ‼️
Organisers of party in the park are desperately asking for support for this year’s event from the locals of Saddleworth.
Ticket sales are very low at the moment with less than a week to go before it’s held next Saturday the 27th September at Delph and Dobcross cricket club.
As it stands now we are looking at making a big loss this year which would wipe out the finances of the wake up delph community account.
Realistically that would mean not only would this be the last year of party in the park but we will also struggle to afford to organise this year’s Delph Christmas lights which we are certain no one wants to see.
It’s not too late so hopefully we can get enough interest in the next few days to make a difference.
So please if you want to help us keep these traditional Saddleworth events going get your tickets this week and encourage friends and family to come along it’s a great event. Tickets are available from Delph and uppermill post offices and online at Ticketsource.com/wake-up-delph.
