There’s been some exciting movement behind the scenes at BUSINESS NETWORKING UK

Today we had a meeting with someone who’s exploring what becoming a Ribbons host could look like.

And these are conversations we really enjoy.

Because becoming a host isn’t simply about running a networking meeting.

It’s about becoming part of the Ribbons team, building a community in your local area and having the opportunity to shape what that looks like around you.

It can work alongside an existing business, bringing together your own experience, personality and local connections with the support and community that already exists within Ribbons.

And as we continue to grow, bringing new hosts into the team has become a really big focus for us.

So seeing conversations like this starting to happen?

Very exciting.

We’re looking forward to seeing where this next chapter takes The Ribbons Network and all the new communities that could become part of it. 🎀

That back-to-school feeling is creeping in… anyone else?

There’s something about this time of year that naturally gets us thinking about routines, a little more structure and what we want the next few months to look like.

September always seems to bring that feeling of a fresh start. New notebooks, shiny new pencil cases ✏️, new plans and that little bit of motivation to get organised again.

And we’re feeling it too at The Ribbons Network Surrey.

Our August meetings have now come to an end, and we’re looking forward to bringing that refreshed ‘back-to-school’ energy into our September meetings. It’s something we always notice at this time of year, people coming back feeling motivated, ready to reconnect and excited about what’s ahead.

What started as one space, created with the intention of making networking feel different, is now growing into a network of people creating their own spaces, bringing others together and helping businesses grow.

And we’re only getting started.

☀️Summer holidays… but does your business stop?

For many of us, summer means juggling childcare, holidays and trying to squeeze in a little downtime. But while life might look different for a few weeks, building relationships in business doesn’t have to come to a halt.

At The Ribbons Network, we’re still running our friendly, high-energy networking meetings throughout August because the connections you make today could become the collaborations, referrals and opportunities that support your business in the months ahead.

Feeling comfortable enough to share your story in a business networking meeting is incredibly powerful.

Here’s the wonderful Jane, openly sharing her journey with the room.

She spoke honestly about the different stages she’s been through in business and her life, and it was something so many of us could relate to.

And that’s the magic.

The moment we hear someone’s story, they stop being just a business owner and become a person we genuinely connect with. We understand what drives them, what they’ve overcome and where they’re heading.

It’s one of the things we love most about the spaces we create at BUSINESS NETWORKING UK. Time and time again, our members feel safe enough to be open, honest and vulnerable.

That’s when networking moves beyond simply swapping business cards.

It becomes about…

🎀 Supporting each other through pivotal moments.
🎀 Encouraging one another to take the bold steps that lead to growth.
🎀 Truly understanding who someone is, what they do and who they’d love to work with.

When we only know the surface-level version of someone, the referrals, connections and support we can offer are often surface level too.

But when we know the person behind the business, we become far better advocates for them.

People don’t just refer businesses they understand. They refer people they know, trust and genuinely want to champion.

Turning up to The Ribbons Network team day earlier this week basically wearing the same outfit… completely unplanned. 😂

One question we’re always asked is, “Do you not argue working together?” or “How do you work with your mum?”

The simple answer? It just works.

We genuinely love getting to do all things Ribbons together because we complement each other perfectly.

Karen is methodical, structured, loves the numbers, keeps everything organised and gets genuine satisfaction from ticking off a to-do list.

Tara is the ideas person. Creative, always thinking about what’s next, juggling multiple projects, and happiest when I’m talking marketing, sales and growth.

We’re very different, but that’s exactly why it works. Two different strengths coming together to make a pretty productive team.

Together we get to support all of our members across The Ribbons Network Surrey, while continuing to grow our little corner of Ribbons.

A year ago we welcomed the wonderful Jane from RHL Business Vision | Print & Design Specialist as one of our Sub Hosts, and she’s built such a successful meeting. We’d absolutely love to replicate that success in more areas across Surrey.

That’s one of our biggest focuses over the next six months, and we’d love your help finding another two Janes!

If you know someone in Surrey who runs their own business, is brilliantly connected, loves bringing people together and has that warm, bubbly people-person energy, we’d love an introduction.

And to top off the week, we do occasionally spend time together that isn’t work (or childcare!) 😂 so at the end of the month we’re off to a colour analysis and makeup session with Claire Dale / Cruelty Free Beauty /Vegan Skincare
