Due to various works being carried out in the halls late July/August, the Parish Council have decided not to take any private bookings for the time being. This will be reviewed at the next Buildings Committee meeting on the15th September. VACANCY FOR ASSISTANT PARISH CLERK

Horton Kirby and South Darenth Parish Council
10 hours per week (To include Friday)
Salary: LC1 (7-12) depending on experience
Location: Parish Office, Horton Kirby and South Darenth Village Hall, Horton Road, South Darenth, DA4 9AX

The Council is seeking to appoint a forward thinking Assistant Parish Clerk who can assist the Parish Clerk in managing the Council’s statutory requirements, working as a team with the Parish Councillors to promote the interests of the villages.
The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator, with a ‘can do’ attitude, who can demonstrate strong organisational skills alongside good business acumen. The role will suit a methodical, independent thinker who likes to engage with the wider community and facilitate positive change.
The successful candidate would support the Clerk who is responsible for managing the day to day business of the Council and is required to provide professional support and guidance in respect of all aspects of the Council’s work.
Applicants would preferably be familiar with local government law and procedure, IT literate; and have customer service and budget setting experience.

How the hall has been set up for Weddings

The crockery and cutlery is now available for hire at just £10 when you hire the Village Hall; wine glasses are still on their way. Why not make use of this and save buying single use plastics for your event (just remember to bring tea towels!! and lots of them if you use all 125 place settings)

During the Easter holidays the Village Hall kitchen had a spruce up with all the original cupboards painted inside and out, new handles, new worktops, new flooring and a deep clean of the cooker and tiles. Looking refreshed!!

St Georges Day is on today!! Stalls are in the Village hall, café in the Jubilee Hall and plenty going on at Heathside - keeping a weather eye open but so far everything is going as planned - please come along and support local groups and have a great afternoon whilst doing so!! Starts at 12 noon to 4pm Auction in the Village Hall at 2pm

In other news the gutters have all been cleaned and 'hedgehogs' installed to keep them leaf free in the future; however one escaped and found refuge in the office! I've called him Harold.

The Halls Committee work hard to ensure the halls are running well and is somewhere you want to come time and time again.
At last nights meeting the committee were pleased to hear the Village Hall toilet refurbishment is booked for the February half term week and authorised work to sand and seal the Village Hall floor in the same week to minimise disruption to our hirers. In the Easter holidays the kitchen will have a spruce up too.
