Join us for the forthcoming Scientific & Technical Writing Course with experienced tutor Dr Jonathan Moseley.

This course aims to help scientists, engineers and others who need to write scientific or technical content, to tailor their writing to an appropriate “scientific register”. It will focus primarily on scientific and technical reports within business and industry, academic theses and journal articles. Other formats requiring some scientific or technical content, such as technical product reports and business proposals will also be covered briefly.

Specific features common to scientific, technical and academic writing will be discussed, along with which features to avoid. Practical advice will be given on structuring and writing reports and theses, including helpful hints and tips. Additional features regarding graphics, experimental data, referencing, proof-reading, the journal submission process and managing generative AI, will also be presented.

This course includes activities for both planned (polls, exercise, video) and spontaneous interaction (Q&A).

This Autumn join experienced tutor Dr Wim Dermaut for our popular online Chemical and Process Safety for Development Chemists course.

Ever wondered how to scale up a reaction where gas release is involved? And can I dose that reagent in 30 minutes at large scale, or should it rather be 8 hours? What if I encounter a loss of cooling during my reaction? How can I make a first safety assessment by just looking at the chemistry? Which types of safety testing do I need in which stage of development?

All these questions and many more will be tackled during our dedicated safety course “Chemical and Process Safety for Development Chemists”, with a deep dive in the theoretical principles, lots of real-life examples and practical exercises. The course really takes the chemical process as a starting point and is therefore highly relevant for anyone working with chemical process development at lab and pilot scale, as well as for chemical engineers working in production plants in the pharmaceutical and fine-chemical industry.

A recent course attendee commented, “I'm really glad I attended this training! This was a very thorough and well-presented discussion of a wide variety of process safety elements. The instructor was a very effective presenter and his lecture was impeccably timed. Going through the calculations and exercises were very helpful in understanding how to think about different elements of process safety, such as gas evolution. The manual is a great resource and meant that I didn't have to worry about writing everything down.”

Who should attend?
• Lab chemists working in process development
• Chemical engineers working in chemical production and tech transfer
• R&D managers in chemical development

🌟 Meet the tutor: Balázs Klencsár, PhD🌟

Though Balázs has worked in different areas of pharmaceutical development, he has always considered himself an analytical development professional, passionate about innovative approaches and development tools to support API and drug product development across different phases.

Having gained experience at leading pharmaceutical companies from generics (Teva) to innovative medicines (J&J), and CDMOs (Ardena, EUROAPI, Jiuzhou), Balazs has developed a unique perspective on the challenges analytical development chemists face in different business environments.

Regardless of the setting, early clinical phase or late stage, API or DP, big pharma or CDMO he has observed how poorly defined analytical strategies and inefficient analytical workflows can act as major bottlenecks and can fundamentally undermine the success of a development project.

With his strong Analytical development background exercised mostly on different chromatographic techniques and atomic spectroscopy, combined with a passion for QbD, Balazs is dedicated to implementing innovative work-flows of analytical procedure development which are fit-for-purpose to the business area applied, ensuring both competitiveness, profitability, quality and regulatory compliance.

📘 Course: Enhanced Approach of Analytical Development
