The stunning 5 star Kimpton Fitzroy in Bloomsbury,

London Have you visited the Kimpton Fitrzroy lately?

Formerly the Russell Hotel in Bloomsbury it opened in 1900 and underwent an incredible refit and transformation in 2018. The interior features contemporary design by lead designer Tara Bernerd & Partners. The bedrooms are decorated with a design by British textile artist Kit Miles

Interesting facts: 1. Its restaurant Fitz’s, which was originally named after the architect Charles Fitzroy Doll, is said to be almost identical to the RMS Titanic’s dining room, which he designed. 2. Also in the hotel is “Lucky George”, a bronze dragon on the second floor stairs. An identical copy was on the Titanic 3. Known for its palatial design, the hotel’s fixtures and fittings included an ornate Pyrenean marble staircase and an interior sunken garden. Each room was fitted with an en-suite bathroom, a great innovation at the time. 4. The Hotel Russell was built in 1898 by the architect Charles Fitzroy Doll and opened in 1900. It is distinctively clad in decorative thé-au-lait (“tea with milk”) terracotta and was based on the Château de Madrid near the Bois de Boulogne in Paris. 5. The life-size statues of four Queens - Elizabeth I, Mary II, Anne and Victoria - above the main entrance were the work of the sculptor Henry Charles Fehr.

It remains right up there as one of London’s best 5 star properties or lesisure or business meetings.

Company Summer Fun Days - what does it ultimately say about you and your organisation?

It’s such an easy event to ignore, when we are all so busy hitting targets, but having run these events for over 25 years, I’d argue they are one of the most important. It’s not just about rewarding your staff, it’s about creating an environment where people can relax, staff can communicate openly and management can take the temperature of the company. A lot more is discussed when people are relaxed and feel engaged. It’s not just about how people are feeling, but it’s about exploring ideas and seeing your co-workers in a fresh new way. Ultimately, we all share the same basic objectives to have purpose, to look after those we love, pay our bills and have time out.

A huge thank you to the incredible hotel and the amazing team for hosting us on this wonderful familiarisation trip. This truly incredible 5 star spa hotel, nestled in the Styrian mountains 🇦🇹, has a wealth of history and is the true vision of the Imlauer family. From its incredible organic credentials, excellent spa and golfing facilities, first class food and accommodation, not to forget those outstanding views. I highly recommend this truly stunning hotel.
