SALE!

It’s that time again and it may just be the biggest one we’ve had. Our annual ex hire stock clearance sale will be 9am - 12pm on the Saturday 31st January. We will be selling off hire stock we no longer use, candles, fabrics, dried flowers, one off pieces only used at one wedding and random things we’ve accumulated! There will be candlesticks, lanterns, easels, furniture, postboxes, vases etc etc!

On the day we can take cash and card. There is free parking, a cafe, lovely neighbouring shops and loos!

Our showroom address is Unit 24, Smithbrook Kilns, Cranleigh, Surrey. GU6 8JJ

The Surrey Wedding Company is 12!

It’s been a rollercoaster. Running a small business can be amazing. It offers freedom and flexibility but it also comes with plenty of stresses and responsibilities.

When I set the business up, I was definitely winging it and I very much learnt along the way, gaining experience with every job. People often ask me how I’ve made it work and what I’ve learnt so here are my top tips…

- Believe in what you offer / sell. It’s hard to promote something your heart isn’t in.
- You don’t have to copy to grow. It’s not necessary. Don’t do it. Originality will always be respected.
- Don’t grow too fast (unless you can back it up with time, money, and have perfected practices in place) Then decide how big you want your business to be. It’s ok to stay small.
- Try not to compare yourself to others. We’re all on our own journeys. Don’t get lost in comparison.
- Stay in your lane. We can’t all offer everything. Aim to be the best at what you do. You’ll also annoy people in your industry if you tread on their toes.
- Carefully choose your target client. Bigger budgets usually mean higher expectation. Smaller budgets mean more thinking outside the box.
- Work hard. Exceeding people’s expectations leads to recommendations and ensures you’ll still be here in years to come.
- Know when to say no. Recognising that a job isn’t for you is an art. You don’t need to say yes to every job.
- You never stop learning. Times change, people change. You and your expectations will probably have to too.
- Ensure you have a work life balance. I’m still working on this 12 years later!

Hopefully this is useful to someone on their business journey. It’s a crazy ride but try and enjoy it! Xx
