Our Sailing Through Royal History exhibition doesn’t just tell the story — you can step inside it.

Put on the VR headset and experience Britannia for yourself, exploring the Royal Yacht and getting a completely different perspective on life aboard this iconic vessel.

It’s just one part of the exhibition currently taking place at Commodores House, Cowes throughout August.

If you're arriving by Red Jet, simply turn right as you leave the terminal and walk along Cowes High Street. We're nestled between and .

Not arriving by ferry? No problem! If you're exploring Cowes, just wander along the High Street and keep an eye out for our beautiful pink building – you can't miss us.

And if you're arriving by Red Funnel or Red Jet, look out across the harbour as you come in. Our iconic pink exterior is one of the first historic buildings you'll spot.

Celebrate the final evening of Cowes Week from one of the finest quayside viewpoints on the Solent.

Before Commodores House became a venue for weddings, celebrations and exhibitions, it was the home of one of Britain's greatest yacht designers.

In 1948, Uffa Fox transformed this historic waterfront warehouse into his home, design office and boatyard. From here, he designed, built and launched boats that would shape the future of sailing.

One of those boats was Coweslip – the Flying Fifteen designed by Uffa Fox and presented to Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip as a wedding gift from the people of Cowes. It was from the quay outside Commodores House that Coweslip would have been launched onto the Solent, ready for countless days of racing.

Today, Coweslip has returned to Commodores House as part of our Sailing Through Royal History exhibition – bringing a remarkable piece of Cowes' royal and maritime heritage back to where it belongs.

For the first time in almost 30 years, The Royal Yacht Britannia returns to Cowes.

This summer, Commodores House is proud to host Sailing Through Royal History – the first-ever pop-up exhibition from The Royal Yacht Britannia Trust

Step inside the former workshop of legendary yacht designer Uffa Fox, where Prince Philip was once a frequent visitor and close friend. Discover the Royal Family's lifelong connection with sailing through historic photographs, memorabilia, immersive displays, virtual reality experiences and the famous Coweslip – the Flying Fifteen sailed by Prince Philip. The exhibition also explores Britannia's long-standing relationship with Cowes Week and the Island's remarkable maritime heritage

Whether you're a lifelong sailing enthusiast, fascinated by royal history, or simply looking for something unique to do this summer, this is an experience not to miss.
