Meet The Rainbow Folk!
Natalie Brookes – accordion
Our fabulous band leader Natalie (she/her) studied composing at York St John and writes many of the band’s tunes. Her debut album “Cormorant” was one of Folk London’s best albums of 2023 and she’s also published a book of original tunes called “The Tyranny of Jigs”. Her incisive sass often has us in stitches. Listen out for her musical jokes between dances and her punchy bass lines that energise the dance floor.
Lisa Heywood - Caller
Our caller, Lisa (they/them) grew up going to ceilidhs and folk dance events and has probably been dancing since before they could walk! They’re passionate about bringing the joy of ceilidhs and folk dancing to complete beginners, and love adapting dances or writing new ones to make sure as many people as possible can get involved. They use gender-free dance instructions and their motto is "having fun is more important than getting it right!"
We also work with a select pool of fabulous musicians who join the band on fiddle and guitar!
See us live in Coventry! The Rainbow Folk Presents Q***r Ceilidh, Sat 16th May, 7:30-10pm. Join us on the dance floor for a q***r-led evening of live music, ceilidh dancing and laughter. Beginner-friendly, inclusive dance instructions provided on the night. Folks of all LGBTQ+ identities and allies welcome!
£12 early bird tickets until Thursday 16th April (£15 after that) - free entry for accompanied children. Booking link in bio
