Happy second wedding anniversary to Conny & Mike, who said their vows under the boughs of an old oak tree, in the dappled woodland surrounded by their friends and family.

When it came to planning their wedding, they knew they wanted a celebrant, but they felt a little vulnerable trusting a stranger with their love story and opening up to them.

But they wanted a day that reflected their love, that felt relaxed, environmentally responsible and more like a festival than a traditional wedding.

The guest experience was also super important to them. With German, Welsh and English speaking guests, and guests that were hard of hearing, it was pivotal that everyone was able to enjoy the ceremony.

Here’s what they said:

ā€œWe were a bit unsure about booking a stranger at first as getting married in front of all your loved ones is a deeply significant and personal moment.

…But with Kate we quickly felt comfortable and like we could absolutely trust her.

She’s super flexible with how much you want to input and collaborate towards the ceremony script and vows, welcomed all our suggestions and integrated them beautifully.

She also made sure that we knew the setup of the space, timings, and related organizational aspects of the ceremony.

Most importantly, she delivered a ceremony that was clear to understand, fun, heartfelt and personal and that everyone loved.

Kate was really friendly throughout the process, professional, warm, enthusiastic, calm, clear, very well organized, and dedicated to creating a ceremony that 100% felt right for us.

We fully recommend her!ā€

Happy fourth wedding anniversary to Ash and Cat, the couple who twisted my arm into becoming a wedding celebrant in the first place. And happy four years as a wedding celebrant to me.

In 2021 I was happy enough working as a funeral celebrant, lurking in crematoria car parks before a ceremony, celebrating peoples lives and delivering stonkin’ eulogies, but then Ash came along and asked if I would consider marrying him and Cat.

I thought it would be pretty freakin’ cool to get to marry your friends, but then I remembered I don’t like doing things unless someone has given me a shiny certificate to confirm I can do them to a certain standard. Off I went to the Wedding Celebrant certification course through , and a few months later, I officiated Ash and Cat’s ceremony at the beautiful

We had Jurassic Park theme tunes, RomCom plot lines, funny bits, romantic bits, and secret bits (the best kind). It was a bloody wonderful induction into the world of celebrant-led weddings, and I have been a fully paid-up member ever since.

I’ll be forever grateful for these two for not only putting their blind faith in me, but also giving me the kick up the arse I needed to expand my celebrant horizons. Now, I split my time loitering in crematoria car parks AND wedding venue carparks, hashtag LIVING THE DREAM.

20 YEARS | On the 1st May 2006, me and Neil decided that we liked each other. And twenty years, eight houses, and two kids later, we like each other even more.

…So forgive me whilst I become a sentimental bastard for a minute and post a photo from every year between then and now.

Thanks to ā€˜s Yahoo fan group for bringing Neil into my orbit circa 2001. Turns out giving your home address and phone number to randos on the internet very occasionally pays off. Sorry Mum. Turn of the century internet dating has a lot to answer for.

…Aaand big thanks to for being a 10/10 husband. There is no one I’d rather do life stuff with, especially because he constantly proves the theory a well-fed wife = a happy life, he’s funny, kind, supportive, slightly chaotic and aging like a fine wine.

Here’s to the next 20 āœŒļø

Big love to the couples who leave you a review before they’ve even washed the confetti out of their hair.

Adam wrote this one. He was nice enough to tell me I gave them everything they wanted, then made it better than they could have imagined. Pretty happy with that.

Also here for the guest who caught this moment whilst everyone was on the Pimms. šŸ„‚

The career advice they gave you at school never really accounts for real life, does it?

Forty years in and I’m still figuring it out.

What I do know is that I brought everything I’d learned with me when I became a celebrant.

Here’s 20 years of life, squished into 16 slides of a carousel.

FEBRUARY | The sun finally came out. Neil stopped trying to persuade me on the benefits of Vitamin D spray. Coincidence? Almost certainly not.

On the weddings front, I met SEVEN of my 2026 couples to plan their ceremonies and have been happily buried in scripts ever since. Wildly different weddings, but every single couple is chilled, fun, and fully paid up members of team good vibes. You’ll have to imagine photos of the meetings, because despite being a chartered marketer by training, I remain spectacularly bad at my own marketing.

It’s been a busy month for funerals too, and a good reminder to look after myself. Beach walks help, as long as the dog gets the memo not to act like a complete moron. Cadbury’s Dairy Milk is also very effective. Three things from February I’ve thought about a lot:

When the partner of someone whose funeral we were planning died unexpectedly, the funeral director replanned at short notice so they could be together one last time. I was honoured to be part of it.

A husband used his tribute to speak about the pressure facing the ambulance service in North Wales. He did it with more grace and dignity than most people manage on their best days, and I will never forget it.

Bangor crematorium was full for a young man who died by su***de. People filled the chapel, the foyer, the entrance canopy, and stood in the pouring rain. The love in the room was palpable. Community matters.

Big thanks to , R Glyn Jones, , John Turner & Daughters and Ivor Howatsons for trusting me with the families they serve.

February also brought my first celebrant conference, ’s brilliant plenary, useful updates on the legal campaign for humanist marriages, and the genuine joy of watching on a dancefloor.

February was also the month I came an embarrassing second to last in a pub quiz, booked a trip to Alcudia with , and lorded it up in a fancy airbnb with hot tubs and board games in my pyjamas, and got reminded why I don’t drink wine any more.

SOFT LAUNCH REBRAND | This year has been all about getting clarity on who I am as a celebrant and most importantly where I do my best work. Whilst it felt quite terrifying to invest in some actual branding and not something I’d cobbled together on Canva, I knew it was an important part of the puzzle. But then I went and got word and awkward about putting it out in the world until some lovely fellow celebs gave me a much needed kick up the arse to get over myself in the nicest possible way. So here she is. What do we think?

If we’re on an intro call and a tail wanders past your laptop camera, I will be asking for an introduction. Pets are a huge part of our lives and our stories, so it makes total sense when they’re part of your wedding too. Dog chaperones are a genuinely brilliant, low-stress way to make that happen.

I’ve been lucky enough to have five recent celebrant weddings with furry friends in attendance, many with very serious responsibilities. Coco hiked up a mountain for a handfasting ceremony. Moss attempted to eat the wooden arch mid-ceremony. Rings were delivered. Woofing was minimal. All 10/10 dogs, no notes.

So far I’ve only been lucky enough to have dogs at my wedding, but who knows what 2026 will bring! If you want your cat in a tiny top hat walking you down the aisle, my DMs are VERY much open.
