Just one image to post before I relax!
But, what’s a weekend! Three amazing weddings, all so different to the next.

Just one of those weekends where I need to take a step back and remind myself “wow, I’m actually privileged enough to get to do this”. I get to meet these people, spend the day with their families, at incredible places in different parts of the country. And to do that, whilst creating photos and memories. It’s just, awesome!

Onto the next :)

Your pre-wedding shoot, if you choose to have one, doesn't need to feel complicated and disconnected. The best ones, for me, feel personal.

Take Isabel and Lois. Our evening was spent in a place that already means something to them, a place they'll have enjoyed hundreds of times. It all feels less like 'having photos taken' and more like just spending a couple of hours together (without phones).

And, years from now, I think that connection to the place will matter as much as the photographs themselves. It's a chapter. Next one, the wedding!

The personality of a photographer can change the atmosphere of a wedding more than people might realise.

I like to work in a calm way, im not shouty, I dont like to take over the day... I like to think I quietly shape how it feels to move through it.

My couples often feel like the photography will feel awkward, performative, or like they're constantly being watched. But honestly, most of the day should just feel like your wedding, you don't have to think about photos.

A calm presence means there's no pressure to be 'switched on' all day. I won't turn the wedding into a production. I may give some gentle guidance when it's needed, but you'll have space when it isn't.

Because people relax around calm energy. And relaxed people look better in photos. The images become more honest, natural, and they are you memories of the day, not of being treated like an actor.

It also changes the way your guests experience the day, too. They stop feeling observed like fish in a tank, and start to be comfortable, and be themselves.

I'll always, always help when it's needed. I'll guide people into the best light, keep things moving, prompt during a portrait, organise family photos, but you shouldn't ever feel managed or, excuse the buzzword, 'posed'.

I'd rather you feel 'supported' by a calm presence who, let's face it, has been to LOTS of weddings. Oh, and comfortable enough to forget about the camera for a while.

I've got your back, Jack!

A few days ago, I spoke about the countryside collection and hinted at a city collection.

This one leans a little more towards intimate, often London based weddings (but not exclusively). Smaller guest lists, shorter timelines, just as beautiful!

Coverage is simple. Ceremony through to speeches, with 35mm film photography included as part of it.

Like the countryside collection, I’ll be rolling this out on my website over the coming week or so.

But if you’d like a first look, just drop me a message or leave a comment and I’ll send it over.

Quick one this evening... If I met you at the open day, you've got mail!

If I didn't, my next open day will be at the awesome on 17th May.

Some of the more eagle eyed might notice a slight lean in my photography lately.

Not a change in how I work, more a shift towards cleaner frames, simpler compositions, and a more intentional use of light.

I used to describe what I do as purely documentary and, at its core, it still is. The day isn’t staged, nothing is forced, and I’d hate to turn it into something it’s not.

But I’ve come to realise that my couples love (from the images they choose, the prints they order, the photos they share) photographs that feel a little more considered. Quiet and understated, but still beautiful. The kind of images that don’t rely on drama, but sit well on a wall.

So I’ve been giving myself a bit more room to create within that.
A little more intention in where I stand, how I frame, and when to gently step in.
The day will always feel calm. It stays easy. And it’s always about being in the moment.

I’m just enjoying making work that feels a touch more elevated.
If you’re curious, I’ve been refining things over on my website to reflect this a bit better. It’s all there.

A few things have been shifting over at Paul-HQ (yes, creative office name), and for the moment it's still tucked away. But, my new pricing will be revealed really soon including a couple of 'collections' including a few extra things not included with my standard coverage (35mm film anyone? Big extended next-day previews? yes).

First will be the Countryside Collection, Ideal for full-day celebrations in the (you guessed it) countryside. There will also be a city collection tailored to more intimate weddings... More on that to come.

It's not on my website yet, but if you'd like to get some more information you can DM me (or just pop it in the comments).

I've noticed a little shift in my weddings over the winter months and into Spring. I've been spending more time in the city with smaller guest lists. Here's another gorgeous day, spent with Eno & Ijay. A cosy ceremony followed by a stroll, stopping when needed for a few minutes.

I think what I've been enjoying most about these city weddings, is that when you strip things back a bit and there's less to manage, it becomes more relaxed and natural.

I will ALWAYS love my big countryside celebrations, but the intimate city weddings are quickly becoming a regular thing for me. And I'm into that!

I've been loving shooting some more city-based weddings over winter. My heart is in the countryside, but I love the clean lines from the architecture and the lovely relaxed bibe of an intimate town hall wedding.
