Eric was at Sunday’s event and left his stool behind and it’s the one he used for taking awesome free photos of everyone 🏃‍➡️🏃‍♀️ if anyone knows where it is please let us know as it has a lot of sentimental value to Eric

This isn’t one of my own events, but it’s one I’m more than happy to share with you all.

Most runners will remember Arthur, and he’ll never be forgotten. 💚💜💙

This is your last chance to enter this special event taking place this Sunday. I’ll be helping out by manning one of the water stations, so if you’re taking part, hopefully I’ll see you out on the route!

Good luck to everyone running, and let’s make it a fantastic day in Arthur’s memory. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️💙

Off the back of yesterday’s successful Summer Solstice Challenge, I’m now considering a Winter Solstice Challenge based on exactly the same format, taking place on the shortest day of the year.

The idea is simple: start anytime during the event window and see how many laps you can complete before the finish. A great way to embrace the shortest day, get some miles in, and celebrate the fact that longer days are coming! ❄️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Who would be interested in joining us for this new challenge? Let me know in the comments! 👇

💪 Shortest day, long run
🏃 Complete as many laps as you can
🎖 Prizes and bragging rights up for grabs
☀️ Longer days are coming!

Hi everyone,

Thank you for signing up for the Summer Solstice Event. We look forward to seeing you on Sunday 21st June.

The weather is looking good and it’s set to be very warm, so please consider wearing a cap, bringing sun cream, and carrying extra water. The car park is located right next to the start/finish area, so any additional supplies can be left in your vehicle or by our feed station.

I have been out and checked the course today. I ran it in road shoes, but the choice is yours. There are a couple of short path and road sections, but the majority of the lap is off-road. The route will be clearly signposted throughout.

Please take extra care at the road crossings near the reservoir, as vehicles can travel at speed along this section.

The lap itself is just over 5km, starting and finishing at the Abberton Reservoir Visitor Centre.

Race HQ:
Abberton Reservoir Visitor Centre
Church Road, Layer-de-la-Haye
Colchester, Essex
CO2 0EU

Please park only in the designated parking spaces.

Whether you choose to run, jog or walk, everyone is welcome to take part at their own pace.

At the end of each lap, you will pass through the event gazebo/feed station, where drinks and refreshments will be available throughout the evening. Feel free to grab something on the go or take a well-earned rest between laps.

Please ensure your race number is visible at all times, as we will be recording every lap completed and totalling them at the end of the event. There will be a trophy awarded to the male and female competitors who complete the most laps.

If you are thinking of running with a dog, you may want to consider it is going to be very hot and probably not best having them out in the hot weather please keep your dog on a lead at all times and use the dog waste bins provided.

Please respect the wildflowers around the Visitor Centre and avoid standing on or trampling them.

Toilets are located inside the Visitor Centre. Please note that dogs are not permitted inside the building. The Visitor Centre café will also be open for most of the evening should you wish to purchase additional food or drinks.

Registration opens from 2:15pm, where you can collect your race number and event T-shirt or vest (if purchased). You may start your first lap any time from 3:00pm, with the final lap needing to be completed by 9:00pm.

Overall times and lap totals will be recorded, and photographs will be taken throughout the event. These will be available afterwards on the page, Craig’s Events.

We look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Thanks Craig
