We always enjoy seeing Layer Marney Horse Drawn Carriages here for a wedding.
The horses Jack and Jill were expertly handled by Abbey and Paulette and looked fantastic!

Village Fete - Monday 26th May - 11am onwards

On bank holiday Monday we will be holding our traditional village fete, which is an important annual event for fundraising for the village funds and church.

You can expect all the usual stalls selling home made produce, plants and books plus fun games such as crockery smash and Splat the Rat!

The novelty dog show is intended to be just for fun and visitors can enter their four legged friend on the day.

We will also have Morris dancers entertaining visitors.

The Tower and tea room are open to the public as usual.

Admission is our standard entry price, with the fete being an additional bonus!

Did you know that we have an outdoor learning centre run by Essex Boys and Girls Clubs?

This includes a range of activities from bushcraft and woodland challenges, to kayaking and raft building.

Tower Tour - 21st May, 2pm

Join us for an informal tour of our magnificent Tudor gatehouse and unfinished palace.

Explore hidden corners, view the amazing architecture and pretty gardens, hear stories from centuries past and learn about some of the fascinating characters that have called Layer Marney Tower their home.

The Tower Tour is included in the standard admission price of £12 for an adult. There is no need to pre-book, just be ready in the courtyard just before 2pm.

Congratulations to Samantha and Alex!

On Sunday 4th May this couple had great fun with their Star Wars theme, with a touch of Disney for good measure!

Garden tour today at 2pm!

If you are visiting Layer Marney Tower today, (7th May), included in your admission price is a tour of the garden with head gardener Claire.

There is no need to pre-book.

If you can't make it today, the garden tours will be taking place monthly on the following Wednesday dates:

3rd September

What a fabulously busy weekend of weddings here at Layer Marney Tower.

On Saturday we hosted the celebration of Josh and Isabella, who were wed in the St Mary the Virgin Layer Marney church.

The pretty pew ends in the church by Amnesia were re-purposed later in the day for the Barn reception. We love the hand painted oyster shells as place names.

The wedding cake was provided by preferred supplier Tess's Cakes Colchester. and take a look at the mouth watering menu by Bouquet Garni Caterers
