Save the days! 🛟

Returning for its second year, Between the Tides Walton Arts Festival will take place on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September.

The festival weekend events will be led by the tides of the Autumn Equinox. Against a backdrop of beach activities, a celebration of coastal community and creativity across Walton-on-the-Naze. Inspired by Walton’s heritage of September folk festivals, upholding its infamous reputation for being ‘Britain’s friendliest seaside resort’, the festival aims to showcase and offer a vibrant mix of opportunities and activities for residents and visitors of all ages, to connect, create, and enjoy Walton-on-the-Naze in all its glory.

Tiptoe Creatives Launch

Journaling is the practice of writing down your thoughts regularly. It can help people to process their emotions, experiences and supports reflection. Tiptoe Creatives are new monthly journaling groups for adults in Clacton-on-Sea.​ There are two groups. One is for people living with a mental health condition and one is for people living with Autism. ​The sessions support people to try different journaling techniques and explore themes such as mindfulness and self-expression. Come along and meet those involved, find out more, and try your hand at journaling.

When: Saturday 20th June - 3.00pm – 4.00pm

The Vanishing Lake with Wise Ram Theatre

Wise Ram Theatre will be running a free, family friendly drop-in activity at Clacton Library. All are welcome for fun creative activities, from drawing characters, doing crafts and playing games. By taking part you will help create a new fantasy adventure show called ‘The Vanishing Lake’.

Wise Ram Theatre is a theatre company based in Harwich making theatre with humour, heart and nerve. In 2025 they delivered a Eco-Theatre workshop for Manifesto4Essex in Colchester and family workshops at Essex Green Weekend. Homecoming Poetry Reading and Open Mic

Join The Art:UP! This collaborative poetry project launched at the 2025 Essex Book Festival, and has seen more than fifty poets from across Essex get together and share new poetry.

The final instalment of this year’s project is on the topic ‘Homecoming’.

You can get involved by signing up to write something new with a partner, writing your own poem on the theme or just coming along to support diverse voices from around the county.

This project is lead by The University of Essex, Essex Book Festival, Waxes Lyrical in Chelmsford, Poetry Plus in Manningtree and Clacton’s own Boho Banter.

We actively encourage new and neurodivergent writers to participate in this project.

The Human Library is coming to Clacton!

Just like in a real library, a visitor to the Human Library can borrow a book from a range of titles. The difference is that books are people, and reading is a conversation.

Books in the Human Library come from all walks of life, and each has an experience to share. Come along, connect with people you wouldn’t normally meet, and celebrate positive differences in our communities.

The Human Library is part of Clacton Rocks! a day of talks, drop-in events and family activities taking place across the town as part of Essex Book Festival 2026.
