Wedding speeches don't have to feel awkward.

After being part of well over 1,000 weddings, we've learnt that some of the best speech moments happen before anyone even says a word.

Here's how a Wedding Host can completely change the atmosphere in the room 👇

🎙️ 1. Give every speaker a proper introduction. Nobody wants to stand up to a room full of silence.
A big introduction from your host instantly lifts the energy and gets guests engaged before the speech even starts.

"Please welcome the Father of the Bride..." hits very differently when the room is already clapping and cheering.

🎶 2. Walk-on music changes everything

Father of the Bride? Cue Daddy Cool.

Best Man? Maybe The Real Slim Shady.

It's a tiny detail that removes nerves, gets guests singing and immediately makes speeches feel less formal.

🎤 3. Use microphones properly

One of the biggest worries for anyone giving a speech is:

"Can everyone hear me?"

A good microphone setup means nobody needs to shout across the room and guests at the back don't miss the punchlines.

Bonus points if your host quickly explains how to hold the microphone beforehand, you'd be amazed how many people hold it at belly button level, or wave it around!

👏 4. Keep the energy moving between speeches

Three speeches back-to-back can sometimes feel heavy.

A great host keeps things flowing with applause, transitions and little moments that reset the room before introducing the next speaker.

🎉 5. The party doesn't need to wait until the evening

Some of the best wedding moments happen during the wedding breakfast.

The grand entrance. The speeches. The singalongs. The moments where the whole room comes together. Because the best weddings don't have an "entertainment starts at 7pm" policy 🤪
