Delighted to catch up with Evan Dunne yesterday, having been involved at Yoker Athletic Football Club as a player, coach and committee member over 9 years, Evan is definitely up there with the best talents that have come out of Yoker Athletic in recent years, initially moving to Beith Juniors before moving onto Stranraer Football Club
Special mention to Gordon Robertson who made Evan's move from Clydebank U20's to Yoker Athletic Football Club a reality

I've had a great day at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh 🏨
Today I met with Professor Joe Goldblatt, I was lucky enough to be asked by Professor Joe if he could have a copy of my Master's dissertation when it was finished 📖
Today I presented a copy of my Master's dissertation to Professor Joe and we even had time for photos outside the JK Rowling suite, where Harry Potter novels were written 🪄
Thoroughly enjoyed spending time discussing events management with Professor Joe and the coffee was good too ☕
Many thanks to Professor Joe for the invitation through to Edinburgh today
Cheers,
Sean 👍

The Graduate 😎❤️
I would just like to congratulate all UWS students who are graduating over the course of this week and to those who are close to graduating or even if you are just starting out at University or College, keep on pushing for what you want
To the University of the West of Scotland, today marks a pinnacle in achievement for myself, it's been a prolonged journey for which I cannot thank UWS staff enough for their continued support and I cannot complete this post without a special mention to UWS's student's union (SAUWS)
, thank you to you all for keeping me right through tough times
I'd like to point out that I left high school with one SQA Higher and as of today I've become an MSc
Lastly, life is tough sometimes but regardless of what path you take don't lose sight of what's important to you
Cheers,
Sean ❤️

Just watched the latest edition in the Trainwreck Netflix documentary series about the Travis Scott, Astroworld tragedy...
I must admit it is a difficult watch for anyone but as someone who is involved in Events Management I found it especially difficult to understand the genuine lack of accountability from the concert promoters and organisers
People say to me or always seem to think that I plan parties for a living and that's the extent of it, watch this documentary for a real life understanding of what event management really is
It is undoubtedly crucial in terms of event process that you cover all bases in event management and leave no stone unturned
A very unfortunate account of how bad things can get even at the highest level of events
Cheers,
Sean

I stepped into UWS Paisley Campus in September 2010 and today marks my highest achievement, a 15 year journey has come to an end with so much more still to achieve
I've met some amazing people along the way and special mention to my friend Marina Stepanenko who sadly I'm losing to the big smoke in London, a truly amazing person
🏴🇩🇪❤️
Another special mention must go to my dissertation supervisor Sandro Carnicelli Filho, from knowing Sandro for many years I very much doubt that I'd posting this today without Sandro's help and guidance
🏴🇧🇷❤️
From my time in the US which was one of the greatest experiences in my life I would like to thank John Bulina who spent countless hours teaching me how to study, as John knows I am completely indebted to him for helping me, as much as John doesn't like to acknowledge it 😂
🏴🇺🇸❤️
Closer to home there is one other people I'd like to thank for helping me get to this point and that's my first boss, mentor and friend Robert Gordon, Bobby G gave me my first job in events management and I've never looked back and for that I cannot thank him enough
🏴❤️

July 30th 2016 , As I sat in my good friend,Donnie Eib’s Orlando apartment while on holiday with the rain pouring down much like my native Scotland, I was questioning where I was going in life, I had been recovering from last nights excursion of partying with my good friend Donnie, I had been studying Event Management for several years now at the University of the West of Scotland - Paisley Campus, I felt limited in prospects even from having worked in events from the tender age of 13 years old, I felt that my previous experiences were never really acknowledged by the faculty at the University however I always ventured into the unknown taking on additional projects and different volunteering opportunities.
On this particular day in July 2016, I felt as if I needed a new adventure. So I decided to register the company name Arona Event Network. The process was easy enough, however, the story of why I chose the name Arona lays not in Scotland or in the USA but in Tenerife in the Canary Islands in Spain. I had been to Tenerife a few times previously and I was astounded that you could be in one part of Tenerife i.e (Playa de las Americas) and all you saw was wild partying at bars and strip clubs however the difference lay in the fact that you could walk 10/15 minutes away from Playa de las Americas and be transported into transformed surroundings which were both tranquil and relaxing through quiet streets and fine dining restaurants in Los Cristianos. This presented to me almost like a heaven and hell scenario but ultimately both had their own appeal, the district that both these areas belonged to was called Arona so while I sat on my laptop in Donnie’s apartment I decided that I would try and offer the wild partying that I had seen as well as offering the other side of things through peace and tranquillity. So the decision was made the business would be called Arona Event Network
Fast forward to October of 2016 and we staged our first event the casino-themed event called “Casino Royale” where we chose Action for Children Scotland as our beneficiary to the event as we wanted to show our due diligence to help other organisations. Successfully we raised over £1ooo on the night courtesy of our 80 attendees where a night of fun was had by all acknowledged by the reviews we received on our own page
The following year in 2017 we slowly but surely networked and grew relationships with fellow start-up businesses. We were even fortunate enough to sponsor the Scottish Alternative Music Awards and Edinburgh based mental health initiative Real Talk. In the same year we produced the sequel to Casino Royale 2016, In this year we had a lot to be thankful for with the great help from our suppliers; Big Deal Fun Casino and En Croute Catering but again we achieved our goal of supplying a successful event

with taking a year out from staging any events we now find ourselves in 2019 launching our 3 subsidiary companies; Arona Radio, Arona Event Services and Arona Adventures to which will mould the future of Arona Event Network. We have come a long way in a short space of time but our efforts remain the same to supplying quality event services throughout Scotland
