"From the moment we first visited Hobbit Hill, we just knew. During that very first visit, Rick was smiling ear to ear and I couldn’t quite work out why. Surrounded by the Tolkien Trail and the landscapes said to have inspired The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, it instantly captured his imagination.
Nestled in the Ribble Valley, Hobbit Hill feels like you’ve stepped into your own little storybook world. Peaceful, romantic and completely private, yet still warm and welcoming.
We had hoped for an outdoor ceremony overlooking those gorgeous views but as always the great British weather had other plans.
That said it genuinely didn’t dampen our day. (Excuse the pun)
If anything, the rain made it even cosier.
Jen, Laura and the whole team are some of the warmest, most welcoming people we have ever met. From morning until night, they blended seamlessly into the background while somehow making everything run perfectly. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The patience, reassurance and quiet organisation behind the scenes was incredible, especially when helping Rick with some very last minute setting and prep.
One of the biggest compliments we received from friends and family was about the atmosphere. So many people said it felt like our wedding, our time, not a rushed event, unlike some they have been to.
There was such a relaxed flow to the whole day. That balance of attentive but never intrusive made such a difference.
We always felt completely looked after. The team ensured we had everything to hand and, more importantly, gently gave us little moments together throughout the day to pause, breathe and soak it all in. Those pockets of calm are something we’ll never forget.
Hobbit Hill has this rare balance of laid back and luxurious. It feels like yours. For that one special day, it becomes your home, your backdrop, your little bubble away from the world.
