Some people you meet in life just seem to carry a little magic with them. ✨
The first time I met Chani, that magic was impossible to miss. Being an openly trans man serving in the British military already tells you a lot about the kind of person he is, brave, resilient, and quietly extraordinary in ways that most people will never fully understand, but he is also one of the most open and kind souls you could ever wish to meet.
And then there’s Lauren......... someone I’ve actually known for many, many years. I first took photos of her as part of family shoots when she was still in school! And have continued to capture her on the rugby field for the last few years, so seeing her now, so happy and so deeply loved, feels incredibly special.
Seeing them so content together fills my heart more than I can really put into words. Their joy is the kind that reminds you why love matters so much. Every person throughout the world regardless of background or circumstances deserves this kind of love.
These photos were taken to celebrate their upcoming civil partnership later this week, and I couldn’t feel more honoured to capture such a meaningful moment in their story.
The trans journey isn’t an easy one. It can be lonely, complicated, and at times incredibly heavy. But it’s also a story of courage, authenticity, and choosing to live truthfully even when the world doesn’t always make that easy.
Here’s to love, courage, and the magic some people carry with them wherever they go. ❤
