We have been looking at parched grass and blue skies from the Fifield room most of the summer so the rain was quite welcome today.

Courtyard Suite 6 has been very busy this Summer. Now hosting some 'Big Feastival' goers. Great to see the accommodation so busy at The Merrymouth Inn and some very happy holiday makers. Thankyou to everyone who stayed with us🙂

The Merrymouth outside and in.... Apartment 4 kitchen lighting and cooker hood extractor finished this week. Today was another day on the roof! Last few bits finished off. We must change the bracket on the TV aerial bent by last November's storms.

Lots still to do while the weather is good.

Well the weather is perfect for working outside and our maintenance and improvements plan continues at the Merrymouth Inn.

This week we fixed the roof on the old Hunters Lodge which is the middle 16th Century bit for those in the know - or as we call it 'the modern bit!' The roof was hammered by storms Ashley, Bert and Conall in October and November 2024.

We lost around 40 slates due to the storms. Most of the repairs are done with new underfelt in places plus a new vent added for the apartment below. Just one slate on the front and a ridge tile left to fix.

- Thanks to Tony for your help, having two on the roof is so much easier, and thanks to Ben for the loan of the roof ladders. It was too small a job for the various Cotswold roofers we approached so we did it ourselves 😁 Total cost £58 materials and £23 in new slates....a but of a result really and a lot simpler than you may think!

We also inherited a racing/homing pigeon while on the roof, who clearly stopped to admire our work so much so that it followed us around on the roof for two days which was quite amusing. Maybe it was looking for another career as it clearly wasn't much use as a homing pigeon.

Next we move onto the roof and pipe insulation, upgrade broadband to 'business grade' 5G LTE Internet to give us around 400Mbps and extend the Ubiquiti wireless system to the apartments - back in my home technology area here - excuse the techni-speak!!

Our suites and cottages were full for FIAT (Fairford) last weekend and are very busy through the summer. The Blues and events start back on 18th September so plenty to keep us busy😛
