Such a strange feeling to wake up on a Saturday and not have an event today - I'm not quite sure what to do with myself!! But the weekend is bookended with 2 garden parties - one yesterday and one on Monday. Yesterday we catered for 40 with 4 guests with specific dietary requirements. We never like those with allergies or intolerances to go without so they always get their own selection which is always appreciated. Now.. what to do today - guess I could get the hoover out!

Canapes for a 50th Birthday party at Celtic Manor yesterday. I have driven past many times but not been in and was amazed at how big the grounds and golf courses are. The party was in one of their amazing lodges - canapes, cocktails, lots of cake, a DJ and a hot tub. I think it was going to go on long into the night...! And we've not had a large canape menu board as part of the party decor on display before which was a nice touch.

Back in the saddle again yesterday for our first post holiday party - and what a fabulous one it was. An 80th birthday garden party kicked off with canapes in the afternoon alongside a magician and caricature artist, to be followed up later with a pizza van, singer and casino in the evening. Lovely hosts, charming guests and a fabulous house. We are lucky to be part of such fabulous occasions - and i hope I'm up to all of that when I'm 80!! And a lovely shot of Jill with our very pretty poppadoms with tandoori mango salad, raita and pomegranate seeds.

So I am back from a fabulous holiday and have had a nice quiet first week back but I am about to start prepping for an 80th birthday party on Saturday. But I have caught up on lots of quotes this week and it reminded me of just how many different occasions we cater for - this week I have quoted for 2 weddings, 2 big birthdays, an anniversary, drinks with neighbours, an office networking evening, a business client thankyou evening and a Christmas drinks party (yes - don't leave it too late!!). So far all but one have converted but it reminded me just how many occasions we are lucky to be part of. We really do provide Canapes for any occasion.

Fantastic day on board the Rocky Mountaineer today but I think they could use some help with their canapes!! Maybe I should set up a Canadian franchise... this was what they served... (the rest of the food and unlimited drinks was pretty good though!)

The end of a busy week - we started with a retirement party at Malmesbury school on Monday, then an Afternoon Tea party for a lovely local lady on Thursday. Saturday was another Afternoon Tea for Rowe Deer Fields, then a lovely (but very hot) afternoon garden party on Saturday in Nettleton and a trio of canapes for a village event in the evening. Then another lunchtime garden party in Sutton Veny today. Thanks so much to the fabulous Jill Francis for braving the heat yesterday - and to my lovely customer for a glowing thankyou.
I am now settling in for the tennis (come on Jannik!!) and will then be taking 3 weeks off for a much needed bucket list holiday.

Some lovely continuity today with a first birthday/christening party for a lovely couple whose wedding we catered a couple of years ago. Thanks to Jill for her drinks expertise (and help with cutting and serving the amazing cake - a new string to our bow!!) 3 from the menu - Tandoori mango salad poppadoms, Parmesan shortbread with pesto mozzarella and tomato and Beef and strawberry croutes with dijonnaise . It really was a pleasure to be part of the occasion- a fabulous family, a beautiful house and a very appreciative foodie crowd. But looking forward to a day off tomorrow at Wimbledon.

We have had a run of lovely house parties recently which are probably my favourite kind of event but last night we were at the fabulous offices of VWV in Bristol for canapes and drinks for 100. Thanks to Mary and Ashleigh for great service (and navigation) and a couple that went down really well - mixed crostini - Ricotta and tomato, Blue cheese and grape and Lemon chicken with avocado. And one of my personal favourites - Mini lemon and lime meringue tartlets.

All our friends were raving about them - and we did not have one left which says it all. A timely visit to Farleigh House this morning for a venue visit as we are catering a retirement party there in December. Also known as the Home of Bath Rugby. Well there were no players roaming around as I guess they are all sleeping it off but we did happen across the trophy which hasn't quite made it to the trophy cabinet yet!! And I have to say - what a fabulous venue to cater.

A rare picture of me from a very busy day yesterday. For those of you who don't know me I'm the slightly craggy older one in the middle! The day started with a very early start to prep a kids birthday party and canapes for the adults for a 9am delivery. Then back to it for a lunch party delivery for 30. Then an afternoon tea themed Vow Renewal at the Temple of Minerva in Bath. We left early to avoid the Robbie Williams road closures, Ladies Day at the Racecourse and the Bath Uni Open Day traffic but got there early for a much needed cup of coffee in Victoria Park. Then the fun and games started with plans A B and C as the clouds gathered and then as expected the heavens opened just as the Bride was due to arrive. Fortunately it cleared again and we were back to plan A for the outdoor service. Thanks so much to Jill for help with the lunch party assembly and to both Jill and Rachel for the weather bobbing and can do attitude. Here are some of the canapes from the Afternoon Tea themed menu - Stilton and walnut tartlets, Cucumber cups with blue cheese and bacon (not ordered often enough in my opinion), Mini sausage and onion rolls, Lemon meringue tartlets (a personal favourite), Mini scone halves and Mini pavlova. A day off today before another hectic one next week.

It was a mix of old favourites for a lunchtime wedding delivery yesterday but we had some fun in the evening for a Hollywood/Bollywood themed engagement party where the request was for an Indian themed veetarian selection. I came up with these 4 - Vegetable curry filo with red onion salad, Vegetable Filo samosas, Tandoori mango poppadoms with raita and pomegranate and Naan bread crisps with saag aloo. I do love a theme and the chance to be a bit creative. They all went down well.
