There, I said it! 😄

Couples spend months (sometimes years!) agonising over the flowers, the venue, the dress, the cake… and then allocate about 20 minutes to the part that actually makes you married. The bit your guests will remember. The moment that makes grown men cry and grandmas reach for their tissues.

Your ceremony is where your story gets told. It's where you look at each other and say, in front of everyone you love, this is it. This is my person.

That deserves more than a generic script read by someone you met five minutes ago.

When we work together, your ceremony is crafted just for you - your love story, your words, your way. And I promise, those 20(ish!) minutes will be the ones that set the tone for the rest of your day, and be the kind you replay for the rest of your lives.

Are you prioritising your ceremony in your wedding planning? Tell me below! 👇

Let's talk about something that doesn't get enough airtime - what actually happens at a celebrant-led funeral.

If you've only ever been to traditional or religious services, a celebrant-led funeral might feel like a bit of an unknown. So here's the simple version:

A celebrant-led funeral is one where the ceremony is built entirely around the person who has died. Their stories, their personality, the music they loved, the words that really capture who they were. No prescribed format. No script that could belong to anyone. Just something deeply, beautifully personal.

And, because I'm an independent Celebrant rather than a humanist, it doesn't have to be non-religious either! If faith was a part of their life, we can absolutely weave that in - it just doesn't have to be the main character.

More and more families are choosing this route, and every single time I'm honoured to be part of it.

Have you experienced a celebrant-led funeral? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. 👇

5 questions to ask your celebrant before you book

Booking a celebrant is one of the most important decisions you'll make for your wedding day - and honestly, it's not one to rush! Your celebrant is going to be up there with you at the most significant moment of your lives together, so you want to make sure they're the right fit.

Here are 5 questions I'd encourage every couple to ask before they sign on the dotted line:

1️⃣ How many weddings do you do in a day? (Spoiler: mine is always just one - your day gets my full focus!)
2️⃣ How do you get to know us as a couple?
3️⃣ Can we write our own vows, or choose our own readings and music?
4️⃣ What happens if you're ill on the day?
5️⃣ Can we meet or chat before we commit?

The right celebrant will answer all of these with confidence and make you feel completely at ease in the process.

Got a question I haven't listed? Drop it in the comments - I'd love to hear what matters most to you! 👇

Happy Anniversary to Mr O ❤️

12 years since we said our "I do's" in front of our family & friends, and you nearly got locked in the church after 🙈

It's been another wild year - our 21st consecutive wild year I think (have we've lost count yet?) - and I'm glad we can still laugh like this.

Ever heard Brenda Lees classic song "Lets jump the broomstick" and wondered what she's talking about?

Jumping the broom is a marriage tradition that's rooted in West African culture, and later African American history. During slavery in the US, Black couples were denied the right to legal marriage, so they created their own ceremonies. Jumping the broom together became a way to publicly declare their commitment to each other - an act of love, resistance, and resilience in the face of injustice.

Today, jumping the broom is sometimes used in wedding ceremonies to honour that history. It symbolise sweeping away the old, leaping together into a shared future, and the start of a new household - a moment that says "we choose each other and we begin together".
