πŸ‰πŸ₯Š This may not be rugby news, but at Chew Valley RFC we love celebrating the achievements of all our members.

A huge congratulations to Valley player Archie Pool on an incredible first season in boxing, becoming a North Region ABA Champion, National Schoolboy Champion, and reaching the Golden Gloves Final. An outstanding achievement that reflects his hard work, dedication, and commitment.

We're also proud to see other Valley players representing Bristol Ringside ABC, including Tommy Doherty (U11s), Billy Doherty (U13s), George Marklew (U13s), and Freddie Strickland (U13s).

Archie trains at Bristol Ringside, a charity-run boxing club based at Winford Cattle Market. The club is dedicated to giving young people across the area a safe space to train, learn, and grow in confidence. It is run entirely by volunteers. Bristol Ringside ABC

Well done to Archie and all the boys involved. We wish Archie the very best as he prepares for the London International Belt Tournament.

β˜€οΈπŸ‰ The May Medley Evening of Walking Rugby was a huge success! πŸ‰β˜€οΈ

The sun was shining and so were all four teams as we welcomed players from Broad Plain Pioneers, St Bernadettes Stragglers, Mature Cheddar and Chew Valley Veterans for a fantastic evening of walking rugby at Lobbingtons.

Across a brilliant series of round robin matches, the evening showcased exactly what walking rugby is all about enjoyment, inclusivity, friendship and community. There were smiles everywhere, plenty of laughs, some great rugby on display, and even a few spectators enjoying the evening sunshine from the sidelines.

A huge thank you goes to Suzy Read for organising such a brilliant event and bringing the clubs together for a fantastic evening. Thank you also to Bill Waddington, Matt Broderick, Mike Emery, Andy McKeown and Steve Meacham for refereeing and helping the games run so smoothly throughout the night.

The feedback from players and visitors has been incredibly positive, so this definitely won’t be the last one… πŸ‘€

We’re already looking forward to doing it all again! πŸ’š

πŸ‰Valley Cats’ very own scrum half Robyn Perry has joined the movement a brilliant campaign encouraging mums to continue or return to rugby after having children.

Robyn has worked incredibly hard to return to the pitch just one year after welcoming her second son, Freddie, and has been instrumental in the Valley Cats’ success this season. While she was sorely missed during her time away from the game, she never stopped being part of the team supporting from the sidelines, attending training sessions, and cheering the girls on every step of the way.

We are so proud to have Robyn as part of our team and club. She is inspiring not only her teammates, but the next generation watching on from the touchline. πŸ’š

Robyn said:
β€œGetting the opportunity to run out with the Maamaas was amazing! To be surrounded by fellow mums playing the sport I love in front of my little boy was really heartwarming.

Having only met most of them the morning of the match was a little bit nerve wracking, but then I remembered we are doing more than just playing a game. We are coming together as a collective of women to inspire not only other girls and women to get into rugby, but also other mums and our children β€” to show them what strong role models are.” 🀍
