Hickupz & Mourne

Joining us for 3 years of Subverse is Subverse family ‘Hickupz’ and ‘Mourne’. Being large inspirations for Subverse throughout its existence it was only right we got the Birmingham Based artists down.

Both bringing unique flavours in intricate and dark music throughout a variety of BPMs, putting these boys back to back for the first time is sure to be something special.

Umbra.

Arguably the most impressive prospect to come out of 2024, Cardiff based ‘Umbra’ has been producing for only a few years but has serious backing from labels such as Flexout Audio and Incurzion. His ‘Missing’ EP released via Flexout Audio last year has been supported by countless heads across the scene and has launched Umbra on an upward trajectory which shows no sign of stopping.

Umbra is no stranger to Subverse playing at Coco last year with Kaisan T on set (the recordings up on soundcloud now!) and we’re sure he’ll come back with a big bag of dubs and unheard bits to deal some damage to Rouge Bar.

Teej.

Hailing from Bristol, UK, Teej has been making his mark on the underground Drum & Bass scene for a number of years now with a number of releases with legendary labels in the scene such as Flexout Audio, 31 Recordings, Sofa Sound Bristol and Trust. Known for his deep basslines and snappy drums, his versatility when it comes to different genres has allowed him to branch out in to every corner of Drum & Bass.
Teej is also a member of the fast rising DNB collective OCC, with both the record label and live act making a lot of noise in the scene since their inception in 2019.

Arkaik.

Arkaik has a formidable style. Since DJing from the age of 15 & with over a decade of releases his clean, infectious minimal Drum and Bass style is fluid throughout his productions and DJ sets.

Arkaik is a pioneer of the stripped back sound. As an original, core artist for Diffrent Music & Flexout Audio whilst releasing on major labels such as Critical Music, Overview music and Dispatch Recordings.

As a producer he has an extensive back catalog and has collaborated with artists such as Amoss, Black Barrel, Bredren, Codebreaker, Dave Owen, DLR, Hyroglifics, Molecular, Mystic State, Nymph, Signal, Ways, Xtrah & is considered a key figure within the minimal Drum and Bass subgenre.

As a DJ, Arkaik has a formidable reputation. After spending over 2 decades perfecting his craft Arkaik has played at some of the most prestigious events around the globe including Outlook Festival, Boomtown and Innovation in the Sun. From pirate radio, to clubs, to festival stages his DJ ethics have always stayed the same, making sure each set is as fresh as possible, encapsulating the audience with forward thinking music, creating a journey with forthcoming sounds.

We’re always looking to grow our roster and we figured the best way of doing this was with a DJ competition.

To enter:
Record a 20 minute mix to soundcloud with the title ‘[Name] Competition entry - Subverse & Flexout - 01.02’
Use the second slide as the artwork.
Once uploaded upload to youre story and tag .events

With 2 slots up for grabs there’s more chance to win!

Competition closes on 26.01 and will be announced on this date.
