Ok, so we’re well late on this one but the Culture Quarter last Saturday was absolute 🔥

Andrew Wright and Jack Grosvenor brought the heat for a solid 6 hours, the only problem was that 6 hours just wasn’t long enough.

Traversing through sounds with ease, the set had it all and kept a packed out Voodoo Keller Bar vibing all night. It was a proper party with some seriously wild scenes.

We knew after Street Eats n Beats we had to get the pair together again and now we know that we need a third edition. And maybe a fourth, and fifth…..!?

We didn’t take any vids because too much fun was being had to distract ourselves with that. Thanks to Anna Maria Greenhouse for this one. But it doesn’t really do the night justice. This was one of those ones where you just had to be there!

We're slowly coming to terms with what went down in the Culture Quarter on Saturday. Street Eats 'n' Beats Festival was another one for the books.

It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces. Whether it was getting creative on the doodle wall or in the arts tents, indulging in our locally sourced drinks or seriously vibing under the stretch tent to our incredible DJs playing the very best underground music.

Ali James kicked off the day with an eclectic selection before Matt Love went to town with his 45s bringing you all the strut of vintage B-Boyism. Andrew Wright and Jack Grosvenor with the incredible b2b making those 4 hours disappear into a haze of genres from house, electro, techno and more. Finally Pinconii closed off the day in seriously rawkus style with some ferocious jungle, helped out by Intense records very own Mr Shuffle jumping on the mic.

We want to say a huge thank you to our staff, helpers and all the DJs but most importantly to you guys who made it all worthwhile. You brought your creativity, passion, energy and positivity to the Culture Quarter from the moment the gates opened to the very last beat.

Huge congrats to Julia and all the SEB team for the incredible festival. Getting to 10 years is no mean feat in this day and age but this one just gets better and better as the years roll by.

We'll be sharing some more pics and videos soon, but for now here's a pic of us enjoying the sunshine just before the madness got going.

For its’ 2nd year, the Culture Quarter returns to Street Eats 'n' Beats Festival to delight your ears, eyes and taste buds. Excellent DJs, locally distilled drinks options and outstanding street art care of Concrete Canvas

To quench your thirst we’ll be serving up local beer from Chelmsford Brew Co, cider from Radio City Social, wine from The English Vine and spirits from Essex Spirits Co.

Our doodle wall will be back along with a plethora of other fun activities to keep the kids entertained.

We kick off the music with an eclectic mix from Matt Love dropping classic New York B-Boy beats. Ali James will take over with a grittier eclectic sound before the Chelmsford Underground residents pick the up the pace. Andrew Wright and Jack Grosvenor will be delving deep into their record collections to showcase the best music you’ve never heard. Expect house, electro, techno, breaks, garage and plenty of other surprises. Once the sun has set, Pinconii will be rounding out the day with some meaty jungle rhythms.

We had some amazing feedback about our Culture Quarter arena at last years Street Eats 'n' Beats Festival. The music, the artwork, the wonderfully refreshing beer and the festival go'ers (especially the younger ones) loved our doodle walls.

The walls will be back again this year and, among many other enhancements, we'll be piling on more cultural activities to get the creative juices flowing!

We're extremely excited to reveal the full details of our stage at this year's Street Eats 'n' Beats Festival, as we present the Culture Quarter

We've got a stellar DJ line up and some wonderful collaborations showcasing the best of what Chelmsford has to offer.

Providing the soundtrack for the day will be Danny Bounce, celebrating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, and the Chelmsford Underground residents as you've never heard them before. Jack Grosvenor will be bringing the house and garage, Pinconii will be serving up a jungle set and Andrew Wright will marking the 18th year anniversary (to the day) of his first DJ gig by venturing back to his first DJ alias, XI, and honouring the occasion with a special breaks mix.

As well as outstanding music, we'll be showcasing art in another form with the help of one of Chelmsford's most exciting new summer traditions, Concrete Canvas. For the last two summers the team have been bringing together an incredible selection of artists and lighting up Chelmsford's city centre with fantastic works of art. We'll have some of the excellent pieces on display throughout our arena. And if all that great art sparks some inspiration within you, we'll have a giant doodle wall for you all to unleash your inner artist.

Of course, no festival would be right without a little tipple so we've invited local drinks makers to wet your whistle with their wonderfully locally created beverages. Chelmsford Brew Co will have their exceptionally refreshing Voodoo Hells lager on tap and, The Big Bear Cider Mill will be providing their quality cider made in Essex from apples grown in Essex.

Next month we're back at Street Eats 'n' Beats Festival for our second year as we present to you the 'Culture Quarter'

We're combining music from a select band of the finest local DJs spinning a mixture of Breaks, Jungle, Garage, Electro and Hip-Hop, with outstanding street art, brought to you in association with Concrete Canvas and the Chelmsford Creative Collective, and truly delicious local craft beer and cider from the Chelmsford Brew Co.

This is one of Chelmsfords' most loved festivals, perfect for families and lovers of lip-smacking street food, boutique bars and top notch music, right in the heart of town in Central Park.
