Around 6 years ago, I was working in the shop when I got talking to someone who was sitting there.

It started as an ordinary conversation.
But it wasn’t ordinary at all.

After we talked, they told me they had made the decision that that day was going to be the day they ended their life.

I honestly had no idea when I first started talking to them.
I wasn’t a professional. I didn’t have the right words. I couldn’t fix whatever had brought them to that point.

But I listened.
And somehow, that conversation made them stop and reconsider what they were about to do.

Six years later, I still think about that conversation. It reminds me that you never know what someone is carrying.

That person could have walked into the shop looking like anyone else.
They could have smiled. Ordered something. Sat quietly.
And nobody would have known what was going on inside their head.

So today, I want to say this:

Please talk to someone.
If you’re struggling, you don’t have to have the right words. You don’t have to explain everything. You don’t even have to know what you need.

Just start somewhere.

And if you see someone who doesn’t seem themselves, ask.

Because that conversation could matter more than you will ever know.
