Last week’s flowers. People often ask for a mix of DIY flowers and a bouquet made by me. The perfect combination. You book the flowers months in advance and on the day I go around the garden with my trolley and some buckets and I cut the very best there is in the garden on the day, especially for you. All our flowers are cut to order. All our flowers are freshly cut for you. If you have a wedding or event planned for summer 2026 do you get in touch and we can discuss what combination of arrangements and DIY flowers would suit you. We are based at Common Farm Flowers between fashionable BRUTON and up-and-coming Wincanton in sunny Somerset email [email protected] for more information and to check availability. And thank you. X

It’s almost time for the live club chats and our schedule of workshops and demos to return.

The summer has been far from quiet - I’ve lost count of how many weddings and events Georgie has done and it’s always a busy time for me (Nicola) as, we start planning the teaching schedule for the new year in the summer months. But we are looking forward to the new term!

More detail in our latest newsletter over on Substack but here are the headlines:

Thursday 4th September - the club chat is back at 5pm, with a general Q&A to start the new term. (You can join the club by becoming a paid subscriber on Substack.)

Tuesday 9th September - The Dahlia Hand Tie Demo online - learn how to put these gorgeous flowers centre stage in your cut flower arrangements.

Tuesday 16th September - The Pricing Cut Flowers To Sell Workshop online - a must do for those growing cut flowers and foliage for sale.

The Common Farm Flowers Club is a warm, welcoming community of flower enthusiasts, small business owners, and people interested in developing ways of making a living which don’t cost the earth but do sustain the business founder.

During term time we have a live chat most weeks with a topic inspired by the Club members. Clubbers are invited to send in their questions via the chat or on any of our posts and we answer them during the live sessions.

The new term starts on 4th September and 12 sessions lined up for clubbers, including 3 brilliant guest speakers.

Not yet a member of our club? It’s easy to join - simply sign up as a paid subscriber on Substack and that’s your membership organised. You can sign up for a month for £7 or annually for £65 (averages at £5.42 a month.) The club live chats are just one of the benefits of subscribing.

You can see the full list of dates, topics and guest speakers for the new term on our latest Substack newsletter - see link in bio or link below.

In the newsletter today (link@in stories) I share a little about how my right hand woman and I fill this flower farmer’s year to make it profitable, interesting, and not so flat out that there are any casualties along the way. The skill is to be productive rather than just busy and this is how we do it. Enjoy!

I can say little yet about today but offer you this interim. They are not wedding flowers.

It’s not long now until our first online demos of the new term, and what a lovely collection of sessions we have coming up.

As we settle into September you can learn about how to use what’s hopefully a fabulous dahlia harvest in our dahlia hand tie demo and you can plan an early crop of sweet peas for next year, whilst learning how to grow this favourite flower! We end September with a glorious demo all about foliage you can grow to use in your floristry.

In October, it’s time to get autumnal as Georgie shares with you how to create a beautiful and sustainable foraged autumn wreath, before take the opportunity look ahead again to crops for next year with the always popular and very helpful ranunculus and anemone demo in November.

Of course, we’ve festive demos coming up this term too but we’ll only very briefly mention those here - it is after all still a very hot summers day as I am writing this!

Information about all our demos:

💻 All our online demos take place on Zoom and start at 5pm UK time.
⏰ Demos are scheduled to last an hour, but sometimes run over.
📢 We always record demos - so if you can’t attend live you will receive the recording of the session shortly after it has taken place. This is also helpful if you get interrupted during the live session!
💁🏼‍♀️ Each demo costs just £35 (with a 10% discount for paid subscribers on Substack), which is excellent value for the amount of knowledge and expertise Georgie will share with you. She keeps no secrets on her demos and is happy to share all her experience with you!

Here are the dates and demos we have coming up - full details and booking information on our website, linked below or link in bio. But do ask if you’ve any questions!

Tuesday 9th September - The Dahlia Hand Tie Demo
Tuesday 23rd September - The Sweet Pea Demo
Tuesday 30th September - The Foliage For Floristry Demo
Monday 6th October - The Foraged Autumn Wreath Demo
Wednesday 12th November - The Ranunculus and Anemone Demo

Love that this was shared today by and I’m inspired to share it too. Here we are, the board of - a more interesting, determined, focused, dedicated group of people who’ve taken the objective of making the first you reach for when you’re getting married, having a party, soothing grief, or just in the mood for a cheery bunch in a jug on your kitchen table, and are running with it. We are building a data bank, talking to mps, instigating research, facilitating logistics, all on behalf of the small scale flower farmers Flowers from the Farm was founded to support, and the customer base looking for flower farmers to supply. I’m very proud to have been allowed to join the team as joint external chair. Barely a day goes by when something Flowers from the Farm related does not appear in my inbox. Exciting times ahead!
