Helen Whitaker Photography I am primarily a documentary wedding photographer, punctuating with a few special portraits. Helen shoots weddings, events and portraits.

My approach is unobtrusive and considered, my images are a narration, a photo essay the kind that transport you right back to the day itself. She is primarily a documentary photographer, the essence is not to stop the flow of your day/sitting and therefore capture the emotion without the contrived posed shots. It simply requires good organisation a good eye, good equipment and a bit of experience.

I have been photographing weddings for 10 years and have an absolute "anti Cheese" philosophy. I shoot modern, documentary, repotage and follow the day as you designed it, so stopping you for lengthy photo shoots by waterfalls or in random barley fields, or the obligatory "running up the lawn holding hands leaping in the air" is just not on my radar.

Huge shout out to Charlotte & Joe who married last week at Briery Wood Country House Hotel. We had some competition from two out of their three little ones who, as you will see, didn't quite buy into the significance of their Mum and Dads big day! You've got to love the back of the head of a four year old, she's so going to love these pictures when she's older, big up the bubbles 🤣 Charlotte & Joe you looked amazing, my very best wishes to you both x

Here we have day 'two' of Sarah & Lewis's wedding weekend at The Forest Side, Grasmere The main event! Its always special when I work in Grasmere, its where I grew up, its home! So when Sarah & Lewis asked me to photograph their big weekend it was an easy decision. We were lucky because when the sun comes out this time of year, which it did in spades, the light just doesn't get any better, however as you will see this amazing ladies smile from the moment she woke up managed to eclipse it, nice one Sarah! On a stunning and sunny weekend in September this happened! This is day 'one' of Sarah & Lewis's 'big wedding weekend' at the stunning The Forest Side, Grasmere last month. We had lots of hugs, a delicious cream tea on the terrace followed by a walk into the village with the couples very important fury pal Kestrel. A quick change for dinner and a then fabulous hog roast 😋 Whats not to like and here's how it looked!

Big shout out to the lovely Helen & Tom who married last month in Grasmere. These guys have had a long wait for their big day thanks to Covid but it was all well worth their trip up from Manchester and all the delays. The weather did its Lake District thing but we did manage to sneak out for some pictures and a bit of a confetti, we photographers love a good chuck of confetti!
