Now that I’ve finally gotten over “The Fear” I’ll try to explain how great last night was!

Now as we’re all aware originally the show was planned with a different band to play with Gimp Fist & Afflicted.

Safe to say, Soapbox filled that gap and more.

Kicking off proceedings Afflicted graced us with a couple of new tracks in their set (Which they’ll be recording tomorrow at Wreck Studios!)

Second up was Soapbox. This bunch from Glasgow blew the roof off. Keep an eye for this band, they’ve already got some big shows lined up with the likes of Soft Play!

Finally the old favourites Gimp Fist. We all know what Johnny, Chris & Mike can do, safe to say they did!

Le Cauchemar started up just under a gear ago with the aim to bring new bands to Carlisle, showcase our class city to the wider world and give a bit more of a chance to our local bands to play some shows too.

Pretty sure this latest gig ticked all of those boxes and more.

The Hunt Sabs stall raised over £150 so a huge well done to them for keeping our wildlife safe and fighting the good fight!

A huge thanks to the bands, to The Brickyard team and more importantly every single person that turned up.

I won’t lie, promotion is a ballache. Over time I’ve lost money and my mind doing this, but it’s all for the love of live music and bringing a great night to the people.

I’m taking a little break now until September (mainly for my own sanity!) but I’ll still be plotting in the background and some new plans and events are on the horizon too!

Cheers folks!

🚨NEXT FRIDAY 🚨

Gimp Fist, SOAPBOX, Afflicted - FRIDAY 18th APRIL

Gimp fist For most of us there are old English bands that took place in our personal history of Punk, Oi! Or whatever! Some of us have seen those bands in the past and some of us listen to their music on CD or see their shows now (often not the better ones). However with Gimp Fist you have the old power and authenticity in the present. Good Music, Great Songs and Lyrics, This is Gimp fist NOW!

SOAPBOX have firmly established themselves as Glasgows favourite new band, already releasing a string of instantly memorable hits that would fit on any punk playlist.

Having recently sold out the infamous King Tut's in Glasgow, this band channel social issues into hard, sharp anthems. Full of grit & wit, inspired by legends like The Damned as well as modern icons, Soft Play & Amyl & The Sniffers.

Local support from Afflicted: Firm local favourites Afflicted bring their powerful street sound again to The Brickyard. They've supported many punk legends including Subhumans, Cockney Rejects, Discharge & Rude Pride.

Well then, we’ve had a bit of a change up on April 12th!

The fantastic Billordo is still visiting Carlisle on his UK & European tour, but instead of planned show at The Source, he will now be appearing at Carlisle Zine Fest!

Sadly due to low ticket sales I made the decision to cancel the gig at The Source. Quite simply, it was looking that I’d be massively out of pocket for this show and unable to raise anything for the Carlisle Foodbank.

It does also mean that 21 Melville St. & Alexx Munro will no longer be playing either but we’ve got some plans together in the future instead!

So, to make up for this, the money I would’ve had to spend on venue hire fees (£250) will be donated directly to the Foodbank.

I can’t thank the folk at Carlisle Zine Fest & Tullie enough for the opportunity to collaborate with them, hopefully it’s just the start of something special!

So come and make a day of it at Tullie! Zines, creativity, DIY ethos & the fantastic music of Billordo to accompany it all!
Oh, and it’s FREE!!!
